Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.LIII "Lottery/Draft"Edit
I love when people fall in love with highlights and think they can tell everything about a player from that.
Schroeder played a very nice game in the Hoops Classic. I was impressed with his speed, 3 point shot and passing. But Andrew Harrison ate him for lunch whenever Schoeder tried to guard him. Schroeder oozes potential and there is a lot to like, but he's a long ways away from being able to run an NBA team. He's very raw. Let's not kid ourselves here. He needs to bulk up and continue to learn the mental part of the game.
Burke is ready now. Dude is showtime. He would start for us on Day 1.
Schroerder could be ready in a few years. But maybe that's the direction we want if we're looking to tank another season. Time is on our side here. We're in the rebuilding / development phase.
Trade down, pick up a future pick and draft Schroeder... I wouldn't hate the move. Anything but drafting Noel or McLemore is fine by me.

i don't think anyone is under any impression that Schroder is better than Burke right now, and that's why people talk about Burke as a potential #1, and Schroder as a mid to late lottery. But, Schroder looks to have as much upside as Burke, and acquiring him with a later pick could mean we can explore other options with our top pick.
honestly, between Burke and Schroder, if Henny picks one of those I think we'll all be coming away satisfied with this draft.

Dude no one said Schroder is better than Burke right now lol. Or else we would be talking about taking him Top 5

Orlando's not making the playoffs next year nor should they. They players aren't going to develop a losers mentality, every team needs superstar and the best way to do that this year and next is through the draft. There are no free agents who would player or that are worth the money.
Who said every year? Magic make the playoffs next year with the young core they have. Then, use the Max money in 2014 to lure an Elite player to this core to take it to the next level. How hard was that?
Or,
Gamble on the Lottery and possibly be stuck as the Bobcats for another 4-5 years not even sniffing the playoffs.
Oh thats easy huh? lol.. like buying a loaf a bread.....So back down to reality...Orlando isn't making the playoffs next year, were going to get another high pick, ok. AND we'll have money for LeBron since apparently its a lock he's coming to Orlando...

And I love overreaction due to incomprehension. You're the one that needs to calm down dude.
There was nothing in my post that suggested Burke was the best and only option for us. I had a lot of good things to say about Schroeder. I said time is on our side and we could afford to develop him. I even said I wouldn't mind trading down and getting him.
So whatever it is that's blinding your vision, take it off!

I am very much in this boat. 2 good PGs to choose from. Getting additional assets and still landing DS is intriguing. Actually, trading down and still getting Burke would be good too.

Oh Zmill.... stop forming your opinions based off highlights. Whether forum posts or players, I notice you like to do that. Look at the full picture, comprehend it and THEN form an opinion/response. That's the best way to interpret prospects and the best way to interpret posts.

assuming the ping pong balls stay the way they are..would you guys like something like this?
magic trade #1 and jameer to sac for #6 and tyreke
we get a guy who can blossom into a star here with a change of scenery and a new coach, move down about 5 spots grab burke or schroder, and sac can get noel and have a very scary frontcourt with demarcaus cousins offense and noel's defense.
burke
evans
harkless
harris
vuc
i'd be alright with this, wouldn't mess up the rebuild either its still a 20ish win team

No, we're not getting enough in return for moving down to 6. Plus, I don't know if Burke would still be there at 6. NOR could easily scoop him up. Or another team could trade up for him.

Why the assumption that we get the number one pick? When was the last time the team with the best odds won the lottery? Honestly I prefer not being pressured to pick Noel since he's apparently the "bpa"

Probably we will end up with the #2 or #3 pick, it's what happening with the worst record in the last 10 years. The last time the worst record got the #1 pick was us with D12.

...oh and booo for beating my ass in fantasy basketball. lol
I will admit that I had very high expectations for Afflalo because I did not know much about his game. As far as the overall Superstar to lead the team that is certainly not him. I think it will be Vucevic or Harris to be the big time producer.
As far as fantasy basketball goes, lol. I did a lot better than I thought I would. You made a strong statement at the end but I expect you will be a tough challenge next year

I think I would hate Dwight even more if he ended up wherever Van Gundy ends up next.
What a complete idiot he would be for making such a commotion while he was here only to go back to the same coach.
