Pelicans getting Zion back just in time.
They won all 4 of their last games, out scoring teams by 27 points apparently, 1st in both net rating and defensive rating during this stretch and 2nd in offensive rating.

So... 76ers are yet to lose when Harden plays? Damn

All teams can really do to defend the Harden and Embiid pick and roll is hope like hell that all their role players miss wide-open threes.
You can’t switch it because Harden is still spectacular one on one against bigs and Embiid will overpower smalls in the post.
Maxey has been absolutely vicious attacking closeouts against a scrambling defense.
Even Thybulle who isn’t a great offensive player has gotten really adept at timing his cuts and Harden is still an ace at hitting cutters.
There aren’t many good options defensively. If guys like Harris and Green and Niang are hitting threes you’re totally dead.

... in the regular season.
I'm gonna have to see it in the playoffs (hopefully vs. KD and then Giannis and then Miami) before I believe in James Harden.

Re: Around the NBA- 2020/2021 Edition
Passing on Maxey for Cole may end up being WeHams biggest draft blunder. Though I was a huge SGA guy, I can admit that taking him at 6 would have been a somewhat reach at the time.
However, Maxey was continually mocked ahead of Cole in drafts. Bleacher reports final mock had Maxey going 16th and Cole going 26th. Some of Maxeys's numbers the last month have been pretty eye-opening, and he's made a clear leap this year. Cole's putting up bigger counting stats on a bottom feeder, but Maxey is going to be the 3rd best player on a championship contender in his second season.
I think it will continue to age poorly.

IIRC didn’t we also trade them the pick they used on Maxey in the Fultz trade?
Maxey looked really good off the dribble in college and his shooting ability was better than his actually %’s. I remember myself and others liked him around here too. I didn’t expect him to look this good this early though.
Another good UK guard to add to the list..

Magic traded pick away in Fultz trade that turned into Maxey and also passed on Maxey and drafted Cole. But this is one of most confusing trade patterns. Magic owned 2017 first round pick from Toronto and Ross trade. Than they traded away pick in 2017 , draft night because infamous "flattened out" qoute ( despite fact Josh Hart, Derrick White and Kuzme all proved to be nba players, drafted just after 25th pick). Pick went to Philadelphia and had multiple restrictions & pre-determened protections and was tied to Utah and OKC trade for Kanter. Best case scenario for that pick was 21st pick in 2020. It turned into 22th pick and Maxey. So in reality Magic gave up 2017 pick, 2020 pick for Fultz. And drafted Cole. And Maxey looks better than both

During 2019 draft as they selected Okeke, they passed on Keldon Johnson , Brandon Clarke and Matisse Thybulle...
Also in 2018 they selected Malvin Frazier 35th, right after him Mitchel Robinson and Gary Trent Jr. were drafed, traded rights on Jarred Vanderbilt ,who later become servicable glue guy for T wolves and took draft rights on Justin Jackson, who got cut by G league roster

However, Bamba draft is still the worst ,because among 14 players drafted in lottery, Bamba is probably third worst ( behind Knox and Jerome Robinson).
So in some alternative reality, Magic Weltman drafting could have looked something like: Adebayo/Mitchell, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges/Porter Jr/SGA, Mitchel Robinson/ Gary Trent Jr, Keldon Johnson, Maxey/Saddiq Bey, not including 2021 draft.
In reality, if they just striked gold with Mitchell or SGA Magic fortune would look lot different. Instad, we got their two favorite aryhtypes- tall, long, can't stay healthy , has no offense in Bamba & Isaac.

One of my biggest critiques of Weltman is I really feel like he does a poor job of maximizing draft assets. Whether it's continually punting on late first/second-round picks or taking guys higher than he should have, he does a poor job all around.
Chuma is another perfect example of a player who was mocked in the early second/late first range leading up to the draft that Weltman decided to take at 15 because he was that high on his board. It's either he doesn't understand the concept of moving back to take on additional assets to still get a player who your higher on than the consensus or he truly doesn't value those picks.
Either way, it's quite bizarre/concerning considering he is the head of basketball operations for a small-market franchise.

I'm 100% sure that without Magic picking him up, he would fall to second round.
But in reality Magic only drafted him because they agreed to not sign him on nba contract during "year zero".

Didn't the team picking 3 after us plan on picking him? I remember Lowe Post covering it or something.

I don't know. 14 players were selected in first round after Okeke. 9 picks & players out of 14 of them were involved in some sort of trade before draft, during draft or right after draft.
If they loved him, they could easly trade down. And if you look at player profile, there wasn't much difference in him and Keldon Johnson who went 29th. Thybulle was promised 24th selection by 76ers, Celtics somehow founded that, drafted him 20th and traded him to Philadelphia for 24th pick and 33rd pick ( funny story about 33rd pick was that it's Knicks pick, once belonged to Magic, but Magic traded it away for Fultz along with future pick that turned into Maxey ) So in some awkward way two future Magic starters Cole , Fultz could have been two 76ers future starters Maxey and Thybulle.

It makes me so happy to see the Nets blow out PHI in PHI's house. I didn't see the game but, they somehow managed to absolutely negate Harden (which also makes me very happy) and Maxey. That's going to be an exciting rivalry if and when Ben decides to play...I don't know how long they can tolerate the delay as his game really requires some integration...He doesn't just step in there and start bombing (like Curry)...Durant is truly a killer.

Hell i'll end up looking like Cole Anthony "fan" because i find it hilarious double standards people have to him vs Suggs & Fultz.
What drives me crazy is that it is those same "fans" that love Anthony's game. Personally I think M-Wagner has more capacity for this team, but that's just me.

Transparancy in nba:
reported Lonzo had bad reaction to recovery
reported Ben Simmons isn't making expected progress
reported Wiseman had knee swelling and is shut down
Jonathan Isaac out for 2 years "no setbacks".
It's amazing that you can get away with things like that on small market mostly because nobody, including local media gives a f*** about a team.

They are clowning Vucevic on socials right now
. It must suck for players like Vucevic, that were quite loved as a whole (I know it weren't always the case and some of us wanted him traded from a seasons back) to not being appreciated much from a bigger market team.
I haven't watched that many games of his, but has he been that bad since the all star break or what?
