EXACTLY. players rarely win championships on their own! they need help, and Dwight has never had that help. we've been lucky enough that this one guy has been able to carry our team for the past 7 -8 years, but if we ever really expected him to be in the company of the former greats and championship winners then we should have got him better help. we should have made moves whilst he was still locked into long term deals and not towards the end of his contract.

for the record, i'm not condoning Dwight leaving or wanting to leave. personally i'd love it if Otis had said to him "stay, we're gonna clear cap this season and make a run at Deron in the offseason and we need you to recruit him for us". if he did offer that and Dwight still wants out, then IMO Otis has done all he can at this point. but had he done something earlier, we wouldn't be in this position.

Don't waste your time debating with Idunkonyou2. He is in bed with Otis. He severely underrates Dwight and overrates the rest of the team. He compares Dwight's scenario to Dirk/Mavs/Cuban.... LOL.

Consistent 50+ win seasons, 1 superstar team, lost in the finals, bad trades and even worse contracts, spending tons of money. If I said this before the Mavs won the it all this year, you wouldn't know which team I was talking about when it came to the Mavs or Magic.

My question is, after this season, what bad long term deals are we locked into? The only one I can think of is Hedo, who can be traded to a near playoff team for expirings or a 2nd round pick. The rest of our team has 1 year deals or qualifying/team options. JRich and Davis have 4 year deals, but they are quality deals for good players (12 million a year combined).

Basically what I'm getting at is the fact the Magic are in position right now to get under the cap, far under the cap, if they so choose too. With the cap space and Howard on the team, they could add a top player IMO, but whatever. Nothing is a guarantee.

My fear is no matter how much money we have a star will not want want to come here. We are a small market where stars leave and our last star trashed management.

Lets. Where is the ring?

When last has a team had the top three salary in the league along with the most dominant center for years and not won a ring? Spare me this small market garbage. We had big market pockets and never put a legitimate number two besides Dwight - case closed. You lose and the board aint buying what you are selling

Otis apparently isn't planning on trading Dwight. This will be an interesting few weeks.

This is IV A New Hope, V is Empire Strikes Back. Does that mean Otis is gonna thrown down a crazy trade to keep Dwight?

Otis can be saying he's not trading Dwight because he's serious or because he's trying to drive his value up. Not like there's more to get from NJ, but doing so could force a 3rd team into the mix.
