No response from MTB. So I've already set up part 40, just waiting for this one to get to 100.

@TheMagicOne
DJRax,MTB, and I are always looking for help.
Do you want to do part 41?

If that happens, he might one day be able to win a ring...

Because Kobe is less than legit these past two years.

Like I PM'ed you, I opened it, saw the OP said 'first', saw the third post had some garbled mess in it attempting to bring some semblance of the OP tradition of Speculation Threads of yore to the cause, then locked it. On top of that, while I can see Arsenal or DJRax opening up a new thread 4 pages early because of time constraints I can't really see why you'd do it, having never done a thread before.

TheMagicOne wrote:For all you guys that think draft picks are the way to go, you only need to look at the carnage that draft sometime become. Just take the 2002 draft class for example. GO get Bynum and take your chances he resigns. The chances are much higher than getting lucky in the draft. Even Nicholson may end up being a bust just based on draft history. I remember when Ely and Wilcox were supposed to be the next great big men. That is how it goes. The draft gets over hyped and stupid teams trade for players who have yet to prove themselves. Trading a star player for draft picks is ridiculous when you have a chance to get a sure thing in Bynum. He may not be Howard, but we will not get an equal return no matter what.

#1 - Yao Ming - Injury Career Ending
#2 - Jay Williams - Injury Career Ending
#3 - Mike Dunleavy - Mid-level Exception Player
#4 - Drew Gooden - Head case and Mid-level Exception P;ayer
#5 - Nikoloz Tskitishvili - #30 on the list of the worst 100 draft picks ever.
#6 - Dajuan Wagner - Couldn't take a dump, had to have colon removed, out of league.
#7 - Nene - Constantly injured and paid at $13 mil per year. (has missed 2 whole seasons from injury)
#8 - Chris Wilcox - Signed Mid-level $3 mil with Boston
#9 - Amar'e Stoudemire - HUGE HEALTH CONCERNS on a MAX DEAL
#10 - Caron Butler - HUGE HEALTH CONCERNS and on a $8 mil deal with clips not even starting.
#11 - Jared Jeffries - Poster boy for overpaid contracts prior to Rashard Lewis. Barely productive.
#12 - Melvin Ely - Out after rookie deal
#13 - Marcus Haislip - WAIVED during rookie contract
#14 - Fred Jones - Out of league after rookie deal
#15 - Jiří Welsch - Out of League in 4 years
#16 - Boštjan Nachbar - Out of league after rookie deal
#17 - Juan Dixon - Out after rookie deal
#18 - Curtis Borchardt - Never played a minute of NBA ball INJURED
#19 - Ryan Humphrey - Out after Rookie Deal
#20 - Kareem Rush - Out after rookie deal
#21 - Qyntel Woods - WAIVED before rookie deal ends
#22 - Casey Jacobsen - Out after Rookie deal
#23 - Tayshaun Prince - Only solid NBA player not injury prone and won a NBA title.
#24 - Nenad Krstić - Lasted 5 years in the league.
#25 - Frank Williams - WAIVED during rookie deal.
#26 - John Salmons - Still in league and has had a respectable career.
#27 - Chris Jefferies - Waived during rookie deal. Only played 72 games in career.
#28 - Dan Dickau - For two years straight was put in a deal and PAID not to play.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I can counter this by listing great players gotten through the draft by 10 fold! I mean look how far back you had to look to pin point such a bad draft.

Secondly, nobody is saying that trading Dwight for picks vs trading Dwight for Bynum is the argument! If we pull off a deal with HOU it will be for more than just picks, but also cap relief, and young players who are already showing legit signs of positive potential. Plus a contract like Kevin Martin's is extremely valuable.

It would give us "picks or young players" AND SIGNIFICANT CAP RELIEF!

You build through the draft AND FA. You do that with picks and cap space.

On Houston/Howard: Been told reports that Rockets will just absorb all of the Magic's bad contracts are ridiculous.

This is for all the people who still believe the Rockets are taking back our bad contracts.

We know this already. Turk was never included in rumors to the Rockets. Only Jrich, Duhon and BBD... which really aren't that bad.

When you think about it the Rockets taking back a ton of bad contracts doesn't make sense..

Obviously, when it comes to a rental Dwight walking is quite a strong possibility. A benefit to Dwight walking is clearing your cap space. Kind of hard to clear your cap space when you have J-Rich, BBD, Duhon, Hedo etc. on your books.

I don't see the Rockets taking more than 28 million in contracts from us. They need people to make them contenders next year and make this rental worth while. By taking 28 mil and adding Asik and Lin, they'd have about 9 million and their full MLE to get a team assembled. I guess their problem, like ours, is that there aren't many free agents left that make a big difference.

Factors in DH12/Lakers talk: Both DH and Bynum need to agree to extensions, third team must be recruited to add picks. Nothing close.

Jonathan Feigen ‏@Jonathan_Feigen
The Asik, Lin contracts will not impact talks with Magic, per source. Talks on trade for Dwight Howard have taken those deals into account.

:o

I don't see how it's ever going to get close if the expectation is Bynum AND good picks...No third team is going to give up lottery picks/promising young talent for Pau.
