You guys shouldn't have amnestied Scola since you are so comfortable with not trading for Dwight.

Harrington is a nice stretch-4 option with Nash and Dwight now. Would fit very well I think, plus they save some money and not go into the insane luxury tax realm.
We already have Jamison, who does the same thing though, talk about redundancy. And I hate to say it, but I'd rather be with salary tax penalty and compete than take a step back. Kobe and Gasol come off the books around the same time, this is a downgrade

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XLIII Off-Season Editio
Why would LA be willing to part with Gasol and Bynum all of the sudden for Dwight? Harrington is not a great player.
If they are willing to dump both their Big guys, Why wouldn't we just do Dwight+J-Rich for Gasol and Bynum straight up? Why involve the other teams? I don't get this...

If HOU's offer is so weak, then this deal is taken.... that's the whole point, at some point HOU doesn't budge and ORL goes another way.
If you think Gasol and Afflalo is the way to go, I think Orlando should definately take it. I disagree, still think the Hou deal is better, but whatever.
Although, if thats the direction you are going, seems like it would be better to just deal straight with LA and take Gasol/Bynum for your yourselves.
what exactly is Houston's deal?

Richardson, as a wing, definitely isn't. You guys want a lot and that's understandable to a certain extent, but to lose height and talent? It just seems like we're getting robbed straight up. I want to see Nash and Gasol together offensively. And Howard may not even be ready for the beginning of the season!
I don't want to end up with an older Al Harrington, who would probably not even start for us. Not to mention him and Jamison do the same exact thing, play perimeter stretch four.
No disrespect, and granted we have Nash and Kobe, but that kinda turns us into only a little bit better version of what you guys used to be back in 09. Not in contention with OKC and MIA.
You would have Kobe, Dwight, Nash, and you think you are only a "little" bit better than our 09 team? REALLY? Holy crap it must be amazing to be a Lakers fan. Us Magic fans would literally jump for joy if our core big 3 were those three guys. You Lakers fans are unreal.
yes because with Nash and this new O, the offense would be Dwight or outside shots from wings, just like you guys were. The only thing Jamison and Harrington both do well is shoot the 3 as big men

Harrington actually put up basically the same numbers as Pau in per/36min last year. And on a much much cheaper contract. Plus they get the best big and defensive player in the league. Dwight + Harrington, with the pieces they now have, is a big upgrade to Bynum+Pau.

LOL @ you. So you're BETTER than the '09 team that beat the Celtics, beat (sorry, dismantled) the 66-win Cavs team and came within a couple of shots going one-way or the other in the Finals of possibly beating the Lakers and winning the 'ship....and you're BITCHING? Aren't you the team that just got swept out of the playoffs in 2011 and had to go to game 7 in 1st round 2012 and then lost 4-1 in 2nd round? I'd say it's an upgrade...

Harrington would most likely be a bench player IMO because despite being older and on a weak team, Jamison put up close to what Pau averages points wise. Or Jordan Hill would start to bolster the interior D with Howard

Yes, something like that. We read Magic dont want Bynum and his contract/injury situation. Looks like we're getting Pau and instead of Bynum too, we'd get Afflalo, dump J Rich's deal, and due to the size of the blockbuster, prolly dump Duhon too and get a prospect and picks that Magic are high on, and 3 teams means we can probably get at least two late 1st's and a prospect the Magic really like between the 3 teams' rosters.

Swept is a strong word when, as you said a few makes or misses, change everything. We could have been up 3-1 but were overmatched anyway, so there was no room for error. At all. And Gasol is better than Harrington, whom as I stated, would have a chance come off the bench whether than starting.

There are multiple moving parts in the fluid talks, but the framework of a possible deal includes Howard and Denver forward Al Harrington going to the Lakers, Philadelphia guard Andre Iguodala going to the Nuggets, Los Angeles center Andrew Bynum moving to the 76ers, and Los Angeles forward Pau Gasol and Denver guard Arron Affalo going to the Magic, sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The Magic would have a better chance of moving Gasol in another deal to get further assets, sources said, and eliminate the risk of Bynum leaving them as a free agent in 2013. Nevertheless, there was still a sense that Gasol's and Bynum's destinations could be fluid in the talks. Either way, one would go to Orlando and the other to Philadelphia, sources said.
The proposed deal includes the Magic also gaining draft picks and salary-cap relief, sources said.

If we got Bynum and Afflalo, I'd be more content.
Exactly. That's what I hope for.

Harrington is done. I read an article about a month ago that basically stated that Harringtons body is shot. I think he is sticking around to collect paychecks.
