#27 was sold for a bit cheap(#46 + cash) I think... We could buy that pick and try our luck with a back-up C or a PG... Maybe Henny did not like the remaining prospects...

But overall I think it was a good draft for Magic.

Worked "well" last year. :dontknow:

There's free agency and trades that can still be done.

Woke up this morning super excited, and kept thanking God that we didnt do anything stupid. I guess Otis has had a bad effect on me on draft nights. Henny did say he will be calling the agents of the undrafted. Its so good to have a GM who knows what the hell they are doing. Now lets suck again next year. I want Wiggins or Smart damn it.

Chad Ford's draft grade:

ORLANDO MAGIC | GRADE: A-

Round 1: Victor Oladipo (2)

Round 2: Romero Osby (51)

Analysis: Oladipo was my favorite player in the draft. Not only is he, in my opinion, a sure thing, but he still has upside, too. He's going to bring it every hour of every day for on a young, impressionable team.

Osby is a tough, physical, undersized 4.

It's clear GM Rob Hennigan is trying to change the culture in Orlando and he took a big step forward on Thursday night.

Henny is building a foundation right now. Setting up perfectly for next year which will see one of the most stacked drafts in years as well as a marquee free agent class.

One thing I hate seeing, is the "change the culture" line... Our culture is fine. We changed the culture last year, D12 out, Otis out. Henny in.
Nelson, AA,BBD, Harris, Harkless, Vuc, O'Quinn and the others set the tone last year, by playing hard. V.O. just adds to it.
that line, to me insults the players we currently have. /end rant

I think we got a good guy who will help us win games. There were some real question marks on Ben. He could have helped himself a lot with better workouts, especially in this draft. We were not the only team that liked Dipo.

Philly did great and I was pretty surprised NO gave up next years pick.

Agree, but at some point we are going to need one or two guys who can shoot. And by shoot I mean when it goes up there's a pretty good chance it's going in. Maybe not this year, but next year for sure.

I'm a conspiracy theorist type and think that Boston will be handed the #1 pick regardless, so im on the "SUCK FOR RANDAL" bandwagon :peace:

James Young could be had in the top 8 next year if we are around that pick. Followed him at the beginning of last year due to his Michael Redd comparisons since he used to be my favorite player "I'm a lefty shooter too" lol.

The Magic most likely won't be getting Wiggins (unless we get really lucky), but with a strong draft class there may be a chance we can snag Marcus Smart.

A backcourt of Smart & Oladipo would be a nightmare for most teams on both ends. One can dream...

if we don't move Harrington (which I doubt we can), I think we should try convince him in his buyout negotiations that if we fully guarantee his money this year that none will be guaranteed next year and he still has his options of teams this year. idk if that's even allowed but worth a shot. we're not signing anyone of importance this offseason anyhow and it allows us to save a few extra bucks for 2014

I have to say this was the most entertaining draft ever. The shocker by the Cavs, complete uncertainty in picks compared to mocks, Charlotte fans trashing their team, Doc Rivers calling Simmons an idiot while trying not to call him an idiot, Simmons firing back and saying to stick to a story, Rece Davis and the rest of the crew acting awkward following that exchange, Simmons saying funny comments thru-out, the Brazilian guy's hair and the tiny hat, the awkward moment of Shabazz showing up on stage, Stern trolling the fans and doing good one liners. It was good theater. Who would have thought it would have been this entertaining?

wats a rebuilding team wanting to do with Wallace. bad contract for a declining player. they should try to flip him for something. humphries could be a commodity near the trade deadline with his 12 milllion expiring contract.

LOOOOL, the best part was after Doc called Simmons an idiot and just before Simmons replied, the look on Rose's face was priceless. He was like ohoh fight, fight, fight, fight.

Oh and Simmons reaction plus the crowd to the #1 pick was classic. Simmons should do every draft.

Yeah, even if we somehow managed the worst record again, there's no gurantee we get the first pick (see this year). But if we could land Smart or Parker or Randall.

My question is once we do have some cap room (next year?), which free agents will we be targeting? I mean, Lebron's not coming here...so who will be available that we would target?

I would love to target Larry Sanders if the Bucks dont extend him. He is an unrestricted free agent. A defensive force center that blocked almost 3 shots a game last year, he would fit great next to Vucevic.

I am behind Simmons in the whole Doc thing and Boston, it reminds me of the Dwight situation trying to play all fields. Just MAN UP and say you dont want to be there for a rebuild and move on.
