In general one of most interesting post seasons is ahead of us. No clear favorites to win all thing. Previous favorites, Lakers, may not even get to playin ( Memphis gets their pick if they slip out of play in lol)
Second biggest favorites from start of a season, Nets, are probably going to playin.
Hawks went from fight for finals to .500 team. Knicks got worst.

Celtics might win East after being .500 team for first 50 games

West, i'm going with Suns, east, Bucks i guess.

Warriors and Heat are falling apart in worst time possible.

In my group chat we have been debating all season who is the favourite to win out and every day we all flip flop lol. I think the Bucks end up in the finals or the Celtic. Western team? I have no clue but I really like the Grizzlies.

I have to pick a team for our yearly sweepstakes as well I'm hoping I draw one of the teams i've mentioned above :)

My gut tells me Suns will win whole thing. I think they are similar to that Spurs team that lost vs Heat and returned next year with one goal and one goal only.

I have no clue who to root for, Dallas, Jazz? Maybe, normally i don't get emotionally invested into playoff games when Magic don't play until games start. Warriors scare me, they went from one of favorites to win whole thing to a team that might be underdog in first round. Lost 11 out of last 17 games. They are trash on defense, last night Memphis beat living piss out of them

That's interesting to be honest I did originally have the Suns down to win it all, I like their roster a lot and the way they play when they are all healthy. I didn't expect the Grizzlies to grow on me like they have this season  .

I'm getting annoyed with playin tournament stuff. It feels like nothing but cash grab and NBA's desparate attemp to squeeze few more stars into playoffs.

No nba team in history won title being lower than 6th seed and second lowest was 4th.

There is no reason why team 15 games under .500 should be 2 games away from knocking down team who is 5 games over .500 based on two games. Too many outside factors could decide single game.

There's no other explanation for it...same goes for the expansion to going to a 7 game series in every round...in the past, Cinderella had a shot to take a first round series with a great game plan...it's like upsets have basically been legislated out of the NBA playoffs. Everything great about NCAA March Madness has been sucked out of the NBA...somewhere in the middle would be best as I don't want to disregard the entire regular season either.

So you don't like the first round being 7 games because you want there to be a chance of upsets, but you don't like the winner take all play-in because... there is a chance for upsets? o.O You guys are too much.

I am excited to see when the Hornets, Nets, and Hawks have knock down, drag out fist fights in the play-in.

Playing devil's advocate. So Minessota will finish season with around 46- 47 games. Lakers/Spurs won't pass 35 wins.
It's still covid rule out there, so in theory, one KAT can test positive in wrong time, be out of playin tournamet but could return for playoffs.
So you are knocking down way ,way better team to give dumpsterfire of a team chance to luck into playoffs? Why?

They had 82 games to finish with at worst- neutral record. They failed. There is zero reasons why they should be awarded
straw of salvation when they did not deserve it.

Fact that projected 34-48 team is in play for playoffs is simply laughable.

I mean... 2019-20 theater of absurd in nba reached new levels ,when Hornets didn't make it to the bubble, Wizards did. But because win percentage is criteria- Hornets surpassed them in standings -by not playing, as Wizards kept losing .
But that's not all, absurdity went on whole new level because "new" standings had direct impact on draft .So Wizards not only wasted time of his players in Bubble but also drafted lower ( against odds) as Hornets got 3rd pick and Wizards got 9.

NBA regular season should be only criteria for playoffs. No playin crap. If you are desparate for raiting boost, like Silver is, be better at marketing and thrim fat out of games. 48 min games in real time is 3 hours with 1 hour of commercial breaks.

The play in games devalue what is an extremely long season, for the sake of more TV money. If it was about the sport they would make the playoffs shorter. There is no reason we need 16 teams in the playoffs. If they want to make the 82 game regular season more interesting slim down the playoffs. It would incentivize teams to win more in the regular season, and get away from this sitting players to keep them fresh (for the playoffs)

Shorten the season or shorten the playoffs. Then you don't get good teams resting their starting 5, like Memphis is doing tonight.

Re-read my last sentence...there's a point of equilibrium...in a 7 game series, the "better" team will almost always win, even if the underdog steals a couple of early ones. A 3 game out of 5 upset is earned, not stolen. I love good coaching, game planning, and abusing matchups. IMO, a 5 game series, at least in the early round(s) is fun, but not frivolous. The regular season work has to matter too.

Watching the rockets lately and seeing the development of Jalen Green has been go encouraging. People were so quick to completely write him off after his shooting struggles and inefficiency, but now he's taking over games and being the complete focal point for the rockets who have won 3 of the last 6 and are winning today (although they blew a double digit lead while he was sitting)

Dude is gonna be so much fun to watch for a long time

Lakers are officially- not officially eliminated.
Spurs would have to lose 3 out of last 4 games and Lakers would have to win 3 out of 4 last games to surpass them.

Really an amazing development...who would have thought that the NBA would add two more slots to make the playoffs and LBJ, AD, and Westbeast will probably watch from home. Honestly, hitching his wagon to AD isn't much better than Westbrook for LBJ...at least Russ shows up and gives everything he has, AD is more fragile than Isaac-dozens of small injuries have the same effect of one or two big ones.

AD is such a monster when he is healthy... But never healthy. Shame.
Assets Lakers traded for him are, however, monster level.
