Detroit and San Antonio will probably offer Ayton the max.

I think Ayton would be a good option to target if we target a wing guard in draft.

What's old is new again....

Franz Basketball IQ and skill looks like a steal at 8
Suggs is going through rookie issues and injuries

Bamba still looks like a waste of a pick due to his lack of energy/care/motor.
Fultz/Isaac are ghost's of the past, does one of them turn into a 15-20 min role player?

Cole looks like a perfect 6th man
WCJ is a workable C that coach can mold
Terrence Ross needs to get out of Orlando to save his career
Gary Harris looks like a late 1st round pick come Trade Deadline
Okeke is Sophomore Slump
RJ is Mario Hezonja 2.5
RoLo is here for Disney and a funny dude
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

they can think differently but until they can stay on the court they're just names. We're a young team with a lot of misfit pieces that finally decided on a direction. We're easily going to be a bottom 3 team for 3-4 years including this year.

They are 4.5 games behind the closest team for the worst record...that is amazingly awful

Our net rating is basically right where it was last year. We spent the first half of that year trying to make the playoffs. We are awful, but we are also very young and injury ravaged. There are worse places to be.

Honestly, more impressed than complaining...in such a crazy, G-league season, with some actual promising things - it's "impressive" that we have managed to win so few games. Actually, maybe it's a nice sign that other teams have been too talented to hold under 10 wins to this point. I feel like our roster is better than our record, particularly if healthy. No doubt there's rebuilds going on, but nobody tells young players to pump the brakes in-game.

I'm pretty pleased with the state of the NBA right now (COVID notwithstanding). The East/West parity is good. There are no clear "Superteams" that have been fabricated overnight running over the league. BRK is probably the exception, but even they have at least one big question mark (maybe more as speculation grows that Harden could relocate this summer and the underestimated loss of Joe Harris and the diminished play of their buyout vets). There are young exciting teams like Memphis, CLE and PHO that are actually in contention (to some degree) with young stars showing they can win. There's a whole flock of promising young players scattered throughout the league from last year's strong draft. ORL, specifically, has promising young players, extra picks, TPEs, and upcoming cap space flexibility. If not for the injuries in ORL and the COVID rosters throughout the league, life is pretty good for an NBA fan.

Does anyone know how does buyout in the NBA works?

If a player has 25M in his final year of his contract and agrees to a buyout with the team only gets paid 10M, so he gives up 15M but becomes a Free Agency.

Then how much of a salary counts towards the team's cap?

10M? or the same original amount 25M?

From what i know, full salary is counted toward cap. That's why vast majority of buyout players are payed vets minimum on next team ( 1,6M). I'm just not 100% sure does that 1,6M lowers orginal's team salary for that amount, but in both cases it's not significant money so it doesn't matter.
Anyhow, buyout is esencially team and player agreeing player is better off team, so he can join contender and tag along in attemp to win title ( Morris for Lakers, Diaw for Spurs being big factors in title wins is best case scenario, but in most cases it's bench depth player, normally well respected veteran like Korver )

.... minus the salary the player gets on another team. Say your 25M player signs a 3M deal with another team, then it is 22M in the cap hit for the first team. And that savings is where teams see benefits in this directly. Otherwise the buyout leads to a stretch as well.

Couldn't find anything on Twitter about it. It does sound like Wendell will suit up tonight though. Also there is this (posted it on the Isaac thread as well)...

If you go on the Magic Instagram live around 540, she'll give updates on Markelle and JI.

Taking all of the politics and injury history out of the conversation... I still want JI to come back and become the defensive monster he was poised to become. His frame looks much more solid than the last time he played in an NBA game.

Heard a week ago that today’s game was marked down for Fultz’s return. Still haven’t heard anything since.
