NEM wrote:Updated. A kings win and a Magic loss tonight ensures we can't finish lower than the 7th slot in the lottery.
Orlando's magic number of not-catching-the-Kings is now indeed one Magic loss or one King's win. That is over 9 full games to be played. And that's for tie splitting lottery balls.
A Knicks win and a magic loss cuts our "magic number" not not finishing below 6th to 1 game. Could a real good night for the tank.
A full update:
Orlando is still one game worse than the Sixers.
The Magic is now three full games worse that the Knicks.
The Magic is now four full games worse that the Kings.
The Magic can still tie the Lakers, but the Magic need to lose out and the Lakers win out to split lottery balls.
So in conclusion --> the Magic is nearly certain now to either be the 4th or 5th worst team.
The 4th worst team has a 37.8% chance for a top-3 pick and is most probable to draft 5th (35.1%).
The 5th worst team has a 29.2% chance for a top-3 pick and is most probable to draft 6th (36.0%).

Man, I was sure that it's gonna be Knicks who out-tank the Magic. And it looks like it's gonna be the Sixers. I just hope they win one of three remaining home game and defeat Knicks on the final night of the season. That way we won't have to care about our possible wins vs. Nets and Pistons.

Philly scores 41 points in the 4th quarter and loses by 23 points. Sad.

To add: Dario "The Homie" Šarić* did not play in the 4th quarter, a quarter Philly won by 11 points.
* This might be his nickname, but his Starbucks name is "Marcus."
“Marcus is my Starbucks name,” Saric said in an interview for NBA TV at all-star weekend in New Orleans. “I love coffee and sometimes coaches and players go together and I always say — one time in Minneapolis I say Marcus and now every time it’s Marcus. And, I like that name.”

Yeah but they are prob still gonna go with the BPA and could chose Tatum. They do need a PG and Fox or DSJr make sense. Still they can screw us over again and just pick Tatum
I'm not scared of the Colangelo regime up there. They'll draft for need and it's PG or Monk (any player to complement Simmons/Saric/Embiid). Now, if they get Lakers pick too, then I'd be a little nervous about them taking a player we covet.

Getting better odds over the Sixers is still huge.
If Tatum is still on the board i wouldn't necessarily feel held hostage
Same. But if they pick 4, and we're 5 and they pick Tatum, that would really suck.
They would probably go Monk. They're high on him.

I'd rather draft Frank Ntilikina than make a deal with Philly again cus they take our guy.

Idk I think the Philly and Monk relationship is overstated. What reports or evidence has been made public that says Philly is high on him?

You really think henny will still be here come draft day? Serious question, not trying to sound sarcastic

No way to know that
I mean remember when everyone was convinced they loved Dante Exum because of the connection with their coaching being his coach in HS or something?

I'm like a scorned woman. I've been burnt too many times these past 5 years to have any faith whatsoever in our front offices ability to make positive change. I would certainly hope he is not.

I think Philly would take Fox or DSJr before Tatum. They need a PG and more 3point shooting. I also can't see them drafting Tatum or Isaac while they have Covington. He has played great for them. Now if they trade Covington, then its anything goes.
Even if they pick Tatum, Isaac will still be available and that is a great thing.

I was just about to mention this but the Spurs have it down to a 14pt lead before halftime. I'm a huge lakers fan tonight
