You know what's the worst part about all this?
Dwight DOES wanna go to the Lakers now .. And probably WILL ask for a trade there
Wasn't the lockout supposed to help the small market teams??

Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part II)
Paul for Gasol/Odom works under the trade checker.
One of the dumbest trades I have ever seen IMO. Of course we knew Paul was a goner and if the Lakers wanted him they would get him cheap since the Hornets are owned by the league. Thanks for proving to us that you are a fake. First your officials and now your front office. Corruption from top to bottom of the NBA.
At least the Magic won't play ball with Stern or at least I hope they don't. If they do, I'm done with the NBA.

waive and go to contender?
The team trading him can't sign him for at least a year so he won't be going back to the Lakers.

Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part II)
This has to be from upperhand this trade .. NOH wanted capspace, draft picks & young assets ..
With this deal they take on long-term money & get nothing they wanted
The Lakers HAVE to be competitive apparently. Maybe that's a rule in the new CBA

Kind of ironic that one gift to the Lakers (Pau) is being traded for another.

I'll join those who are saying "This sucks." Really does seem corrupt.

This is some corrupt ****. I would have laughed in your face if you told me Gasol/Odom would get you Chris Paul.

Exactly. In no way shape of form is this a good deal for the hornets. Everything they've held out for for the past year is the exact opposite of what they got.

The team trading him can't sign him for at least a year so he won't be going back to the Lakers.
then hes going to boston or miami

Unbelievably, Laker fans on the GB appear to be quite upset about the deal.

Boston is done contending.
I could see him going to the Heat though if he is waived. Maybe the Magic can get him.

The rich get richer. It occurs to me now, that the NBA is the sports equivalent of Wall Street--where the Lakers, Celtics, Heat, Bulls, et al, play the roles of Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, and the like.

KBergCBS Ken Berger
So to sum up, the Lakers get Chris Paul for Gasol and Odom and still have Bynum to offer whenever for Dwight Howard.
And so it begins
