why do people keep saying "no one wants to trade for him if he won't stay". there is absolutely no evidence of that. common sense tells armchair GM's that that statement is totally logical, but it doesn't mean this is true.

there have been plenty reports that there are teams that are willing to rent dwight regardless. I mean GS has been most vocal, but there was another report that 6-8 teams called about renting dwight and risking trying to get him to stay. i know the math is tricky but it's pretty clear to me, 6-8 is a larger number than dwights 3 (2 if we don't count the lakers, 1 if we agree that dallas can't make a trade) teams that he indicated he'd extend with.

Yeah I agree. Seems like the perfect time considering there would be what? 6 days or so left before the deadline?

Sounds to me like a guy about to get traded to the Magic ;) :P

if he were about to be traded he probably wouldn't be angry. More like he got the news they were standing firm and not moving him.

Can't you see it:
Joe Lacob: "Great news, Monta, we're not trading you!"
Monta Ellis: "#%@@#@&!!!!"

Teams will trade, and our situation is unique. I don't buy nothing will go down.

Interesting quote from Bynum:

Andrew Bynum tried to take the blame for the Lakers' staggering collapse in Washington by announcing after the 106-101 loss to the lowly Wizards that "I was kind of loafing around and having a good time, and it caught up.

So he knew he was loafing and then was thick enough to admit it? I'm surprised Kobe didn't kick him in hte critch during a timeout.

Part of a larger article about Mike Brown's coaching ability coming into question (which is no big surprise IMHO). Original article is here

OAKLAND – There was a tangible feeling of frustration in the Warriors’ locker room after their 110-92 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.

The Warriors got down big early in the game – 21-4 – rallied to take the lead in the second quarter, and then got manhandled once again in the second half.

The Warriors are now 15-21 on the season and are falling further and further down the Western Conference standings.

Warriors coach Mark Jackson called his team’s performance “embarrassing,” the third or fourth time he’s used that term after a game this season. But he wasn’t the only one disappointed.

The team’s leading scorer, Monta Ellis, left the locker room in a hurry and didn’t speak to the media.

Dorell Wright, usually a player who will accommodate the media after wins and losses, also wasn’t in the speaking mood.

When he was asked by a reporter what it’s going to take to turn around the Warriors’ season, Wright responded: “You’re asking the wrong person. I don’t even know.”

Wright’s minutes have been decreasing in recent weeks, and he played only 10 minutes against the Grizzlies. Jackson has been trying plenty of different players and rotations, but he’s failed to find one that consistently works. And the season is more than half over.

“It’s going to be a tough task,” guard Stephen Curry said of making the playoffs. “Because we have a lot of games to make up. We have to go on a run.”

But that seems unlikely at this point. The Warriors are 13th in the Western Conference standings, with four games and five teams between them and the No. 8 spot.

Jackson and owner Joe Lacob’s promise of the postseason is looking farfetched at this point, not that anyone seems to be giving up on that idea.

“Well, it lies with the first unit and that lies on me being the captain,” David Lee said. “I will take the responsibility. “

I think I finally understand Lacob's insanity. He made an outlandish claim at the beginning of the season to make the playoffs and he doesn't want to face the embarrassment of going in the opposite direction and do a rebuild. Trading your best player after failing to make the playoffs would just concede that he failed.
I need Otis to pull a Marcellus here

Josh Robbins ‏ @JoshuaBRobbins
Asked about possibility he'd play for the #Chicago #Bulls, Dwight Howard playfully said, "It's pretty cold here." #Magic
