Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt XVI: Trade Deadline cont
After reading that Miami/Clipper tweet, I don't believe anything anymore. All sports reporters must be reaching hard for a story. I'll just wait til Thursday and hope this same team isn't on the floor.

Not really.
Brook is a RFA.
The pick would have been much lower if D12 was on there team two months ago.
Marshon would have basically been the only return.
Marshon wasn't even included in the original deal.
It was Wallace/Lopez for Dwight/Duhon. Crap then, crap now.

I'm told Howard prefers going to free agency. Doesn't want a team he is traded to gutted just to get him.
What is going on here is the same thing that is going on in the republican nomination, the media is searching for sensationalism and will spin events in the most dynamic way possible.
I'm told (by who) and sources say (what sources). It is all propaganda by the Entertainment industry. There is no truth to any single thing either way. Media people are just trying to obtain a larger viewing audience. Just consider this an audition by media reporters. Because, the more viewers they get, the better chance they get a raise or latch on to a better job. This is all about money, not just for Dwight, but for those reporting on him.

Two teams sources say tell SI Howard will have interest in: Clippers and Miami. There are cap issues, but the interest is real.

Well hell, I'm interested in going to LA and Miami too, but there are cap issues for that as well. Just because the interest is real doesn't mean it can happen - certainly not as a free agent.

He wouldn't be doing a S&T for us, it would be for his own benefit.
Just like when he asked for a trade. He didn't do that because he wanted us to get something back, he did that because he wanted the extra year on his contract. Same thing with Melo to NY.

And those "advising" him, which is the real problem.

I would rather him go to the Clippers because then with a s&t we could probably get at least Deandre Jordan and maybe Bledsoe for Howard

Taken from a guy called "Moldy Hedo" on TBN:
Taken from a poster whom I can actually vouch for as being reputable on TBN (Penny Hardaway's Ghost):
A Darkhorse I am hearing is Houston.... Cash and picks but a package centered around:
CLee (right a wrong), Dragic, and Scola
FOR
Anderson, JRich, Duhon, and Orton.
http://espn.go.com/n...tradeId=734ulmr
Sure its bottom scraping, but is it enough to keep Dwight???
and by hearing I mean I just made this S up.
Taken from a poster whom I can actually vouch for as being reputable on TBN (Penny Hardaway's Ghost):
I am so far from an insider that it isn't even funny but I can somewhat "confirm" that Courtney Lee has been discussed as recently as today. Again, I'm no Magical Hobo but oddly enough just within the last 30 minutes my "connect" mentioned that Lee was talked about. As for Dragic/Scola/DuDu/Orton/Anderson, none of this was mentioned.

No. How many times does this need to be posted before people get it? NO EXTRA YEARS/$$ in the new CBA's sign-and-trades. It's the EXACT same contract as if you sign somewhere as a free agent. They are of no extra value to the player unless it's to get them to a team that doesn't have cap or to save face a lil as a PR move (like this Dwight situation).

Did I say he would do it for extra money? No. I said he would do it For his own benefit. I said he asked for a trade for the extra money.
So save your smart*ss remarks for when you actually have a point.

I can see Houston entertaining such a deal only if they got some other trade lined up for KMart unless they intend to move JRich to SF. But, I wouldn't make that trade with Ryno involved. He is making strides as the season progresses and he may even be an all-star someday. I would never have thought that possible before this season. Kid will still keep improving.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt XVI: Trade Deadline cont
Does anyone else think that the pic they keep using and is currently up on RealGM (Dwight nixing the CHI trade) make him look extra bad? I know he is usually trying to hide a smile because he laughs so much; but I don't know... Something about it makes me uncomfortable when I see it. And they seem to use it whenever they are reporting something that could be perceived as negative on his part...
He looks a little devious or something in the pic. I know I'm not explaining this well; but maybe someone can articulate it better for me.
The pic makes him look like a snake is the closest I can come to how I feel about it when I see it. Just someone you cannot trust...
Maybe I just need a vacation from RealGM; but I know that just won't happen at least until the 15th!

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt XVI: Trade Deadline cont
Here is what I think the REAL situation is:
Dwight and/or his camp met with the FO people of the Nets this summer. He had been in contact with Deron and his people as well. They orchestrated a plan to create their own big 3 in Brooklyn. I don't know if Otis caught wind of this or what, which might explain why he rushed to get as many assets from the Nets early this year in the proposed trade or what....but I think maybe that was the case. Remember, all of this was right around the time the Magic were going to pursue tampering charges etc, so they may have heard some of what went down. I think Dwight and Deron were "promised" a 3rd star to join them in ushering in the Brooklyn era, and they both got very excited about that prospect, as well as all the other business proposals I am sure that Prok pitched to them. I think this is part of why Dwight has been wavering (and still is evidently). I think it is because no 3rd star has yet landed in NJ. Here, however, is what REALLY has me worried...
Notice how the Nets have drastically pulled ball their offer now to basically be Farmar+pick for Dwight?? (Okur's expiring doesn't really matter since Dwight would be expiring anyways if he left) Ummm....what??? Perhaps they know something we don't. That seems to be a completely absurd offer. Originally it centered around Lopez...but here is my theory. I think the Nets are going to shop Lopez hard this summer for a 3rd star (Monta or JSmoov or SJax). I also think that Lopez could actually be moved relatively easily for one of those guys. ATL wants a legit C so they can move Horford to the 4. Lopez is one of the top C's in the league, and JSmoov has requested a trade, so I'm sure they could work something out. Exact same situation with GSW wanting a big man, and Lopez fits that bill quite nicely as well. If Bogut is being shopped in MIL, and he moves, and they need to get a big man back in the summer, Lopez could come in in a deal involving SJax. These are 3 guys that if any of them landed in NJ by July 1 (like on draft night...), I am 95% sure that Dwight is absolutely going to sign there. None of those 3 would prevent Dwight from being "the man"....they are all friends/guys he has publicly stated he really wants to play with, and he also gets to team with Deron and get all of the extra $$$ opportunities of being in NYC. Now, I believe if that 3rd piece doesn't land in NJ by July 1, then he will probably prefer to stay here....but there are a lot of signs pointing to this plan. Why do you think he basically keeps blocking all other potential trading partners by not committing?
