are you sure? Faried is nothing that we need at PF. a hustling, rebounding, little defense, no shot blocking PF.

If we got thibs, he'd be the perfect fit

why? again, he is not a good defender, has little offensive game and provides no shot blocking. How exactly is he the perfect fit?

Gordon-A at SF: Draft Porzingis- Why: Stretch 4, compliments Vuc's interior game and allows Gordon, Dipo and Payton to be slashers.

Gordon-A at PF: Draft Herzona- Why: Size, Offensive talent, and defensive potential. I cant help but see Derozan/ Galinari hybrid from all the video i've watched on him

Agreed. He'll be our starting SF in the near future imo which is why I like Turner and starting to like Porzingas.

Winslow is my pick right now. Silly to think he is somehow locked into the SG position. He has as much weight and wingspan as some of the best SFs in the league. In fact he has 2 inches of wingspan on Jimmy Butler.

Is Winslow such a talent that it overrides the desperate need this team has at PF? That is my biggest question. If he is then yes you take the greater talent. But if he's only slightly better than any of the PF's available, then I would go with the PF with the most upside potential.

Many on here say just go out and get a PF in free agency or trade...but that is much easier said than done or every team would just do that. The fact is that finding a starting caliber PF or any high value player is rare - especially one who's at a compatible age for when your roster peaks for its run.

In trades you lose assets, so to get that PF something key will be lost - its not going to be Harkless and Ridnour for the PF. In free agency, that almost always results in massively overpaying for lottery/small market - and its rarely for an elite player...at least until the team becomes more attractive or has a superstar on it.

It doesn't seem that way although works outs could tell a different story about a lot of these guys. Especially with harris here though and, imo, AG transitioning into that role it makes sense to grab to after one of the stretch 4's. I'm interested to see where Turner is projected to go after workouts and I'm warming up to the idea of Porzingas. I'm just reading a lot of good stuff about the guy.

All the Mario lovers:
@JaredZwerling
No. 2 foreign draft prospect Hezonja: Hearing issues w/ parents (messy). 1 scout recalls R. Fernandez had father issues; short time in NBA

Could be something or could be nothing. Tis the season for rumors about prospects to hope they fall to certain teams.

If there is one thing I trust in the magic organization, it's our strength and conditioning program. Look at Dwight's physique when he was drafted and by the end of his first season. Porzingis will be just fine.

Hopefully it's nothing, but after Fran, I'm really nervous about using a high draft pick on a euro player, especially if he has family issues. I don't want to draft the guy and have him not be able to come over because of his parents.

Rather than pull ideas out of thin air, I'll stilck to teams rumored to have interest in moving up. Currently, the Boston Celtics are expected to aggressively seek a top 10 pick to take WCS.

With mocks placing him as high as #6 now, they might need to move all the way to #5.

They currently hold the #16 and #28 picks as well as a number of nice young players.

I would guess that Smart and Sullinger are off limits? Is there anyone else we could use that they might be interested in parting with?

I. Thomas would be a great backup PG for as an instant offense guy. But he is locked up to a very friendly deal for years to come so I doubt they want to move him.

At those picks it isn't out of the realm of possibility that we walk away with say... Frank Kaminsky + Tyus Jones?

The draft would then be about filling the bench. Trading #5 for Isaiah Thomas, #16 (Bobby Portis) and #28 (Chris McCullough) is what results. I add Seth Curry tot he roster. If by some miracle Greg Monroe would sign with the Magic, the resultant roster would be :

Payton/Thomas/Curry
Oladipo/Fournier
Harris/Gordon/Marble
Monroe/Frye/Portis/McCullough
Vučević/O'Quinn/Dedmon

That is an excellent team.

Turner is on my list of players the Magic should target. I would allow a month to go by and see how he does in his workouts to determine if his work ethic and skills are worth selecting him at five.

My 1st and 2nd choice are tied for second to last in this poll, ahead of only Kaminsky.

Hurry up draft!

Justise Winslow: Could be the next Jimmy Butler...

Mario Hezonja: More athletic Toni Kukoc.

Kristaps Porzingis: Andrea Bargnani or Ryan Anderson... He's extremely risky...

Willie Cauley-Stein: Dan Gadzuric 2.0 ...I'll pass.

Winslow or Hezonja for me.

I lean Hezonja.

Thank God you're not the GM.... Isaiah Thomas and #16 for #5??? Are you on meth?

I better be getting a 1st rounder and a coach out of that trade too...

Two first round picks + a perennial 6th man of the year candidate who fills a position of need and adds scoring we desperately need in exchange for the #5 pick which is not likely to offer one of the premier talents of the draft?

I'm not saying it is an easy decision but his is hardly an offer to laugh off from the Magic's side.

Unfortunately our trainer left for Houston to follow Dwight (i think). He was great and got some of the young core on good routines. But he left before last season.

Kristaps plays nothing like Bargnani. Less mobile, less explosive - he was actually a decent shooter for a few years in the NBA (19-20 PPG) but didn't live up to his hype at all.

That was mostly our strength-and-conditioning coach at the time Joe Rogowski who is with Houston (go figure) now.

Extremely athletic, high bball IQ, amazing defensive instincts and can hit the 3. Contrary to what others have said, I think he fits amazingly on this team. We would have 3 guys who can play multiple positions (VO can play the 1/2, Winslow can play the 2/3 and Gordon can play the 3/4.) That would make us dynamic and allow us to create matchup problems for the other team. In the era of stretch 4s, teams going small and the importance of defending the pick and roll, I think we are creating the new wave team. At least that is my logic.

I know a lot of people are high on other players because of what they can do on offense. But I think we have our guy that is going to have the ball in his hands most of the time in Payton. I think we need a lot of guys who can play with or without the ball.
