Two years from now, Biyombo's contract will look cheap for a back-up Center. That's what he is. I am happy if he is retained, but if there is a trade package whee he fits in, I am OK with that. Biyombo is replaceable. Every year there are MLE-quality Centers that get over-paid. They can always be found.

i think you underestimate how much the cap is going to go up. that being said, he just isnt doing it for me. I get more and more open to a swap with Portland for Crabbe every game i watch Biyombo play

If Biyombo was Biyombo and Ibaka was Ibaka...I just don't understand why Biz, in particular, isn't bringing what he always did. Ibaka's getting his numbers...I'd like to think I know a little bit, but...This team looks great on paper. WHY do they suck so bad on hardwood?

Right now, Biz holds no tradable value except his reputation. Weird

You don't get it. Biyombo is bringing what he always has. Which is not much. He just had 3-4 career games which rewarded him with a massive contract. Take out that Cleveland series and he would be making $5 mil somewhere else this year.

Not even close, we overpayed, but he still would've made around $11 mil somewhere else, you're underestimating the new cap.

If we could move Biyombo for an equally overpaid Crabbe...I'd do it. I agree about the cap skyrocketing, but give me a shooter with bigger upside. I love Biyombo's attitude and promised skill set, but he just doesn't get it done...Ever!

Ibaka for picks/prospects is a separate deal.

I was thinking 8-10 for a backup big at most.

Biyombo got money because he had grand total of two good games in series vs Cavs. However, his averages for that series were: 6 ppg, 10 rpg, 1,8 bpg in 31 mpg on 56% FG and 62% free trows. in last two games against Cavs he averaged 5,5 ppg and 6,5 rebounds on 24 mpg. So, as you can notice ,he played above his head at home games in Toronto, naturally, when full arena is going bananas (and there is 20 000 people outside arena ) you will give your max. Same happend with ibaka, he played in place that just has pure energy. OKC fans are loud and inspire you to play your best, this is not insult to Magic fans but it's not hard to notice that there are arenas in NBA where fans bring best of the players. Also playing on better, winning team helps because you feel better about yourself and your moral and confidence is high.

Biyombo and Ibaka got here, team went downhill pretty much from gates, they never build any momentum or confidence and after 15-20 games they probably just felt bad about situation . That's why Spurs players are always great, they play in system that wins games and they are part of winning culture. That's why McGee is looking great for GSW.

Is great really the right word??
Even before this season started it was obvious this wouldn't even be an average team, there was no scoring at all outside of vuc and Fournier who are average scorers at best. We knew we had no superstars (a must have for a top team now), no leaders and really no go to guys on offense. We have a team full of complimentary pieces who would be no better than the 3rd or 4th best players on any playoff team

Gordon and elf have potential to be foundation guys, but nowhere near that level now, and who knows if they ever will be

Honestly, without a total teardown and some lotto luck, I do the see this getting any better any time soon. Our only hope is getting a top 2-3 pick and getting someone like Josh Jackson or Fultz and building around them and Gordon.

The cap is actually going down this year, depending on the new CBA, it might hover around where it lands, maybe go up or even down a bit from year to year, but nothing that will redefine things from where they are now. We are living in the new landscape and $17 million for a backup simply is not a good idea at all, under NO circumstances. Unless Biyombo can put up and start, he is on a brutal contract.

I would say it's a 5 million overpay just on theory alone, factor in his stats, and it's a $7+ million overpay. This is where I think contracts sit in the current salary cap:

Star- 25-30+
Starter- 16-20
6th man- 10-15
Bench- 6-9
Warmers and Rooks- 3-5

4 starters at 16= 64 million.
1 starter at 12= 76 million
1 6th man at 10= 86 million
4 role players at 6= 110 million
2 bench at 3= 116 million

Even at those low rates, once the other players in the league sign new deals, there is simply not going to be room to pay someone like Biyombo 17 million. The only reason players like Biyombo and Crabbe got deals like this was because teams had space in the transition period between have a team half+ composed of old CBA contracted players. Once the new deals start to proliferate through the league and balance themselves, the guys that signed deals that year are going to be on terrible deals. You may not see contracts like that again.

The days of players like Bismack Biyombo, Tyler Johnson, Luol Deng, Allen Crabbe and Timofey Mozgov getting contracts starting at $15 million a year are likely over. The market for quality role players may drop down to the $8.4 million MLE. That doesn’t mean a few free agents won’t be overpaid this summer, that seems to be an inevitability every year – but not on the scale of 2016.

Imagine if we kept Oladipo here, then that would be 3 foundation type guys just needing to add an Elite FA to . . .

Trade needs to happen already. WE are not going to get a young guy and pick for Ibaka. Rob is dreaming. Take a 17 first this year and run.

We gave Oladipo and a 11 pick. It has happened not much more than 6 months ago. For me it is not enought a first round pick this year. :banghead:

Looks like Wilson Chandler wants out of Denver. Not sure the Magic have pieces that would interest the Nuggets, but considering his contract, he'd be a good get for Orlando.

Ive been calling for this trade for months. Give them Ibaka and Mario for Chandler and a pick/filler.

mudiay is being quietly shopped according to wire tap, his shooting looks not so good, but what do yal think of him, haven't seen much of him but he had some hype coming into the nba, trades? I'd do Ibaka Green Fournier for Faried Chandler Mudiay, not sure it gets it done im just spit balling, I'm high on Fournier but I know many of you aren't
