For those still talking Westbrook

LOLZ for both teams

Wizards with Westbrook are another team that easily surpasses this magic team in the playoff standings imo

Yes.

John Wall (30 y/o) has played 73 games total over the past 3 years.

Westbrook alongside Beal would easily skip over Orlando for a playoff spot in the East next year.

Sad.

I'd like to trade AG & 15 to PHNX for Cam Johnson and Frank Kaminsky & 10.
Phoenix should be in a win now mode with getting CP, they'd have a pretty good line up.
CP
Booker
Bridges
AG
Ayton

We'd get Johnson, he and Okeke can cover the 3&4 forward spots. Frank or Birch can be paired with Evan at the deadline to bring something big back. We'd have Johnson for two more years after this year.

Fultz/MCW
#10 draft pick/ Evan
Johnson/ Wes
Okeke/ Frank/Chief
Vuc/Birch/Bamba

forum talk. Minnesota isn't giving up so quick. They would be a good landing spot for AG, but 17 and Culver is too much.

If this happens, coupled with Brooklyn landing Harden, Orlando should 100% tank this season without Isaac.

Play all the youth and make some trades please.

I came to that conclusion last night. It is time to tear this down. When you see real playoff teams making moves while we do nothing, there isn’t much of a choice. Good players are being moved and none of them are making their way here.

Time for Devos family to sell the team and new management to take over this corpse of a franchise.

Usually, I'm prepared for uneventful draft night but for some weird reason, I feel we're at a crossroad and we pick a direction.

Tomorrow night, we will either blow it up or push all of our chips in.

What chips?

We are going to stand pat, draft a wing at 15, this board will meltdown and we will run this garbage back again in a few weeks.

29 teams compete for a championship.
The Orlando Magic compete for the 8th seed!

This organization is so stupid they would actually hang a banner for 8th seed appearances. :banghead:

Thank God. I'll get Martins on the phone and let him know that he's clear to move forward with the plan.

I would love that too (like you since they took over), but i cant imagine this FO trading AG, Vuc or Evan for rookies or draft picks. I think they know they wont survive a rebuild with young players (young teams are always bad). They could have done that, when they took over (they should have), but now its too late for them & i don't think Isaac's injury is enough reason for the casual fan or the DeVos family. I hope i'm totally wrong about that, because its the perfect time to do this.
Its the reason i'm happy about every trade, that makes our competition better. No sleepwalkin to the 8th place anymore by default & doing nothing but drafting & resigning Hennigan guys.

I could be a jerk and say “I told you so” to a number of posters here about this FO perpetuating mediocrity, while trying to pass it off as some amazing blueprint. I won’t.

The most obnoxious thing about this FO is their refusal to move on from Hennigan’s core. If not refusal, then their complete lack of urgency. They didn’t have a plan and that is now obvious. Watching another season of this, with slight variation, will be painful. I probably won’t.

Watching OKC amass assets at this level makes me sick. Why? Because their GM knows how their market operates and how to strategize a rebuild in 2020. Orlando did the opposite, and I know which organization I would place a bet on to become better quicker. hint: not us.

I agreed with most except the correction.

Look: there are about 10 teams that would love to be were the Magic is now. And the Magic is on an upward trajectory.

PBO Weltman is on record that he intends to draft at #15, but will listen to offers. He is also on record that "the team must get better." Those are not the words of a pro-tanker. Collectively the Magic look to go all-in next offseason and this offseason will be about integrating Okeke and Mr. #15, upgrading Iwundu, Frazier, Ennis, and Clark's roster slots, and solidifying the PG depth chart. We fans should not expect more than that. (Yes Fournier and/or Gordon might be traded to make any of those things happen).

I will.

The Magic has been Mediocre for two years after being bad for six. That is progress and is part of the blueprint as was promised to us fans by management.

When BPO Weltman says, "the Magic must get better," would would any fan oppose that?

I kinda agree.. I think most are spoiled or delusional.if they think we can donthe shortcut like the Lakers where before being young and sucking.. all.of a sudden LBJ decided to sign with them and is bringing allstars like AD and other good stars for dirt cheap in just 1 season.

Its a painful and agonizing process amd I admit its sickening seeing the same buddyball plays and all but im.the grand scheme of things..

Dwight left, we suck, drafted young players and lucked out and stil sucked. Develooed them and added good players we made the POs as bottome seed. Next step.is to be mid seed PO teams before going for the championship seeking team.

No, becoming mediocre in the east is the easiest thing to do in the NBA. Nobody except 2-3 teams even wanted the 7-8th place. Surprisingly, these teams are hopeless & with no direction for a decade & more like us (Charlotte, Detroit)
The only thing you need in the east to get to the 8th place are above average Veterans & a coach who knows the errors in the system of a 82 games season.
Play veterans, rebound & doesnt turn the ball over & make a run after the allstar break, when half of the leaque is tanking or resting there good players. Thats enough to beat the tanking & young teams & secure the 8th place (this year 7th was open too, because of the Kyrie & Durant injuries) in the east.
Becoming the 8th place, lead by veterans is no progress. Its a thing 25 teams in the leaque try to avoid every year

I don't look at that as some huge accomplishment though, especially for as long as we tanked and acquired young players. We had a 35 win team with Skiles in the middle of sucking and even when we "sucked" we were in the mid 20s win wise which isn't too far off from what we've had or could've had these last few years with mid 30s wins. If we had just kept everybody we drafted, eventually we would've been in a similar spot as we are now, maybe slightly better... a mediocre 5th-8th place team with Dipo/Harris/Payton/Mario/Vuc/Fournier etc.

This also doesn't really seem sustainable and doesn't take into account younger teams that may be better and surpass us this year.

2018-2019 we finished 42-40 but we were 22-31 heading into Feb. We beat up some really bad teams who had given up and playoff teams that were resting. I'm proud of how they came back, but it wasn't like we were some markedly improved team from the get go. We were talking about tanking for picks again in January before our big run.

2019-2020 we got lucky everybody was so bad and made the playoffs with a 33-40 record. Our record against +.500 teams was like.. 5-33 or something horrific. We had nice wins against the Warriors, Lakers, Houston and Philly twice and that's it. Couldn't do crap against any other decent team in the league. We beat up the scrubs of the league.

What, are we going to inch to a 6th seed in 2023 as our magnum opus when Vuc is in his mid 30s and Fournier has been here for 11 years? I'm just not sure about our plan besides getting lucky with draft picks or getting a legit star here that will change our fortunes.

I don't understand fascination with OKC and their picks.

If you start reading about those picks, it's just bunch of rights to swap pick but who are also heavily protected. For crying out loud what's the point of making a trade for 2025 draft pick- right to swap that is top 10 lottery protected ?

Not to mention that one of recent trades included 2027 draft pick.

Almost all their picks come from Clippers and Miami, those teams are going to be contenders next few years so we talk about bunch of 20-30 first round picks :dontknow:

In mean time their roster now is:
Rubio ( last year of contract)
SGA ( UFA next year )
Oubre ( last year of contract)
Adams ( last year of contract)
Noel ( unrestricted FA right now)

That's pretty much it from bunch of players that even are NBA level players.

So they have army of draft picks and literally no NBA players but SGA left after 2020-21 is finished.

PIcks are cool, but purpose of picks is to get actual players, right now OKC has 5 nba players and 4 have every intention to leave them within 9 months
