I'm guessing he actually is part of the reason they picked PB over JS

There is no chance second round pick impacted who we drafted first.
Its that Jabari skill set is not that unique. Yes he had a great shooting college season, but numbers vary from year to year. As i said before draft, you can get tall shooter much further into the draft. Its different when tall shooter has elite handles and playmaking but thats not Smith ( and thats not Houstan). Its not impossible Houstan is better shooter than Jabari long term. Caleb strength is movement shooting while Jabari strength is pull up shooting. One is easier to showcase in one year in college than other.

That's a bit of a contradiction no? You don't need to take a shooter first if you can get one later in the draft, but it doesn't impact who you choose first?

Not yet.
I THINK (my speculation) we are trying to make space for him in the 15-man roster but KDs drama is holding up everything.
I find it odd he is not signed yet. So can you draft a second round pick and never sign them? If they are playing in summer league for you doesn't there have to be some sort of contract for that? I just dont get why he isnt signed or at least not on a 2 way deal that could get converted later once the roster spot clears up.

I keep thinking this guy is like a wing player but standings side by side with Keegan who is going to be a 4, he seems to be the same size

Switchable on defense, great 3 pt stroke. Ideal 3 and D!

Shooting is coveted, and I think he’s going to be an elite one at the next level. I like players who I can identify having atleast one elite skill. RJ/Okeke/Cole are too average to below average to poor at virtually everything.
I’d be prioritizing getting him minutes next season. He has an interesting pedigree and a real pathway to becoming a role player in this league imo.
zaymon wrote:Okeke is much stronger and better defender, better passer. If he can get his shooting going (and he is a good shooter) he is a valueable rotation piece. Houstan has more offensvie upside, and he seems more calm and collected. I love Chuma, but Caleb really impressed me even if his shots were not falling in second game.

Okeke would be a very good role player if his 3PT% was consistently 5% higher and he would be one of the best role players in the league if it was consistently 10% higher.
Unfortunately it’s not. So he’s not.
This is a big make or break season for Chuma IMO. He’s flashed nice connector role player skills and now he really needs to have a better shooting season to tie it all together.
