The Bulls are only going to give the Magic another top 8 pick.

Isaac does not have enough minutes to qualify.
Suggs is on alert. He's got until the rest of the season to convince WeHam to spend their 2 picks on other positions besides his.
I don't see it happening.

If I were Fultz I’d be more concerned considering he has 1 year left on his contract and can’t play anything other than point.
Magic could draft a point guard and a shooting guard. Suggs will still get minutes with Harris gone.

I don't think it matters too much. Guards have been the weakest part of our team although theyve all shown growth this season. The draft is just too deep in guards in general specifically for us to pass up.
There are some forwards we might target, or a back up big if the big men outside of Wendemyama show enough worth of grabbing with our Bulls pick. I cant say any big has shown that yet.

Paolo hasn't been particularly impactful to winning basketball games this season. That's a fact. Most rookies aren't and he's not an exception.
But a person would be a bit foolish to judge a player...
Who was 19 years old when the season started
Is 52 games into his NBA career
Is just one year into his cost controlled, under market contract that has four years left on it
To someone who is...
25 years old
In his 6th season (which means five summers to improve)
Has the same weaknesses now that he had when he first arrived in the league
Is already on his second contract which pays more than he's worth
Only has 1 year left on said contract before he'll want a raise.
A person would be a bit foolish to compare those two players based on their RAPTOR ratings in 2023.

He's doing quite well in vest points, which more than compensates for his poor RAPTOR IMOKnightro wrote:Skin wrote:Don't look too closely. Strongly disagree.
There's 96 minutes to be had in the backcourt every game.
Suggs has a clear path to minutes no matter what next season because of his defense.
Whether he's the starting PG, starting SG, backup PG or backup SG, he's gonna play.
Fultz and Harris are the ones most at risk from the current Fultz/Harris/Anthony/Suggs foursome because their contracts are the closest to being up.

You're not even arguing my point. Enough minutes to go around? Sure! But I doubt he'd be happy knowing his future is a 6th man. Pressure is on for him and if he's looked at the landscape of this team, he knows that that the Magic need an improved backcourt more than anything else.
I mean, I would be happy with him as a future 6th if he can improve his shooting. A Poole, Clarkson, Herro type would be overachieving the way I see it right now...6th men typically bring in a boost of offensive firepower, and Suggs is far from that. Cole is closer to being able to fill that role. Suggs is looking more like a Tony Allen type. You don't see that type in today's NBA. So if Suggs can be a good 6th man, that would be great. It will have meant he stepped his game up.

Just my opinion, but I would say the odds of a rookie guard - and most likely it will be another very young one and done guy like Smith, George, Black, Wallace, etc - stepping in next season and being better than Fultz, Suggs or Anthony are very slim.
There's a very good chance that neither lottery pick (if they make them both) is going to step in to big minutes. Especially if the Magic don't make a consolidation trade and god forbid they actually sign a FA for big money.

Re: Suggs
Some interesting Suggs comps. He's only a soph, so my takeaway is that he's a fusion of Baron Davis and Marcus Smart. Floor is a solid rotation player like Mario Chalmers.
Baron Davis, 2000 (rookie year)
Mario Chalmers, [2018, 2015, 2014, 2010, 2009]
Marcus Smart, [2021, 2022]
Johnny High, 1981
Victor Oladipo, 2023
Eric Bledsoe, 2022
Marcus Banks, 2004
Iman Shumpert, 2012
Marko Jaric, 2006
Ronnie Price, 2015
Doug Christie, 1994
Kirk Hinrich, 2009
Brent Barry 1997

I think Harris' money is nonguaranteed for a reason. Most likely a goner. If we draft Amen Thompson and he can't shoot a lick, then yeah... he'd be a project. But if we draft Dick or Howard and they are killin' it with their range, I could see that guy starting because his size plays into what we are building here.

Re: Suggs
It's so clear we lack physicality and athleticism on the boards and in transition when we play Franz and Paolo together that our guard choices become very conditioned by that fact.
Our SG in reality needs to lean more towards a rebounding and shooting athlete than a combo guard who can initiate and playmake. In that instance, a point guard who can initiate in the halfcourt and shoot is vital.

So Josh Hart was perfect , cheap addition that we, ofc, didn't go after?
