Re: Official Spec Thread: Heart and Hustle Magic 2.0
I think next very important question is if we need to play point guard next to Suggs. If we do, its not a disaster but it lowers our ceiling. His playmaking stats are getting better and are comparable to Jrue Holiday rookie stats.
I really like our triple threat of Suggs, Wagner and Carter. We can get to the rim against every position. We saw it already with Carter dusting Vucevic on close outs or with fake handoffs, Wagner slowly becoming adept at pick and rolls and Suggs hopefully blowing past anyone.
What do you guys think, we should prioritize playmaking or just size and shooting ?

For me, Suggs and ( with what we have seen before ) Fultz can take care of playmaking. Shooting though... Curry, Klay, Herro type of shooters is what we def need and want.

Do we really want 2 guards who can’t hit the open 3? There will be no lanes for Wagner or Suggs to take it to the paint.

Suggs can hit an open 3. His problem is that he shoots really deep off balance shots.RichCollab wrote:RookieStar wrote:zaymon wrote:I think next very important question is if we need to play point guard next to Suggs. I think Suggs was better at pull up 3s than spoting up in college. Most of his shots from 3 are considered wide open now.
I am not even talking about Fultz specifically but more as a team building concept
Our defensive potential would go through the roof if we could play someone like Danny Green next to Suggs ( Okeke?)

Suggs can hit open 3s. Also his form looka good plus he is a willing shooter. No reason to expect he won't improve his percentages as he goes along the nba years.
We all saw how Fultz befor3 handled the ball, getting in anywhere anytime... how much more dangerous would he be if he had someone on the outisde with the 3pt threat of a Duncan, Klay, etc

Suggs shoots 29% for 3 when he is wide open.
Last 10 games he shoots 22% wide open

Wide-open also could mean 8' beyond the three-point line. Of course, they won't guard him out there.pepe1991 wrote:Suggs shoots 29% for 3 when he is wide open.

Re: Official Spec Thread: Heart and Hustle Magic 2.0
Fultz could help him some by penetrating and kicking it out. I don't think players like Ross forgot how to shoot, he just isn't getting great shots in this offense.pepe1991 wrote:basketballRob wrote:Wide-open also could mean 8' beyond the three-point line. Re: Official Spec Thread: Heart and Hustle Magic 2.0
Long-term? I would prefer to just play Suggs at PG and let him work through his mistakes while looking to upgrade the SG position than I would play him at SG next to Anthony, Fultz or someone else.
Short-term I suspect we're going to see Fultz/Suggs starting together at some point before the season ends.

Oops, didn't see that article was already posted. I put it in the Suggs thread.
What are his percentages if you take out his 17 dunks against Chicago?

Re: Official Spec Thread: Heart and Hustle Magic 2.0
I cant see suggs at pg (at least not in the near future). Despite having a crowded pg spot, injuries freed a tons of minutes and he barely played at it. I think the fo sees him as our Long term sg, and i dig that. Neighter can see a backcourt of fultz and suggs. I know if suggs start hitting open 3s at a decent rate it would be a nice pairing but i really dont expext him to do it with fultz current contract lenght (i have no faith in fultz to be a threat from distance). Fo has the thouhgest decition on who they view as the future pg, is it cole or is it fultz? As for now i see franz, suggs and isaac as the Long term players. And with just those 3 i widely preffer cole for a lot of reasons i dont think are wort mentioning on this thread. But drafting jabari would make me reconsider what i just said. Luckily the fo has the time to think and decide wich path they take.

Orlando must know if Fultz and Suggs can play together. There is no decision Magic management can make on guard trades until that question is answered. As such: Anthony must swallow his pride and be benched given how critical this assessment is to the team.

It is starting to look like a tremendous challenge for Orlando to climb up to a 25% winning record. At this point I struggle to see how the team can improve enough to get to a 20 win season.

With only 33 games left, there is zero hope they can win 20 games.
And probably as much chance of Isaac playing this year. Not even 100% sure Fultz will even return. Maybe for last 20 games or so.
