How to terribly develop a player for $500 please

As far as Jett is concerned, if he couldn't even be the best player on a G-League team, then he isn't going to help. Regarding Black, he will get his time regardless unless he is only capable of being a defensive specialist. That could end up being his role. He better work hard on his game and if he does, he will get minutes. It is that simple. We are not bottom feeders anymore gifting players minutes, but a possible contender whose players need to earn their minutes.

We gift minutes to crappy vets though, and Weltman is the guy who made the draft selections, soooo..... blame the players or blame the guy who mismanaged the draft capital?

I'm not going to lie. It seems like asset management 101 was a course not taken or a course failed. This f****** guy blows my mind.

I just feel like those picks were at their most valuable during the draft, before a player was selected. It's always hard to retrospectively say what should have happened or what could have happened given what did happen, and I like some of the outcomes but he's not setting these kids up for success, and by not succeeding their value is diminishing. It's like driving a car off the lot, sucker loses a ton of value once you take it off the lot, man.

I listen to Austin Rivers' podcast. I like those guys. But he talks about being drafted and not getting opportunity and how it crashed his self-esteem. And eventually you know he became a role player and did quite well for himself and all that. But still he was drafted in the lottery. And you can hear in his voice the pain of those memories. And we talk about giving players a plan and giving them a path to minutes and all this B******* but where's the plan in bringing back everyone and putting these kids right back at the bottom of the pecking order? I mean hopefully they can outplay these scrubs, but Harris and Cole can hoop and coaches like people they trust.

What's crazy is that I actually like this team on paper. They're super deep!

But the mismanagement of assets is stunning. This team could be so much better if Weltman was actually willing to make trades instead just kicking the can down the road over and over and over again until his assets have no value.

Has either one of them shown anything remotely worth trading for besides Blacks defense?

Why, because we shouldn't have drafted them in the first place?

Awesome mix of veterans, young stars and young guys grinding to earn their spot. I see the vision. I will be at the games spending my money to show support. How could you not get behind this team? Consolidation will come in time. It will be big. It will take us the championship contending status. Relax and get excited because in less than 4 months our team will be back and they need us to make KIA an unpleasant place for teams to play.

 More of this please!

Is this Weltman’s burner account??

Ive been here longer than Weltman bro!

Nah, just an optimistic dude.

As I said, I am fairly underwhelemed by the offseason, and hoping there is a trade, but if not we still have some awesome players and this team will still be fun to watch and root for.

Too busy and too much bad stuff going on in this world. Gotta look on the brightside/upside

You're part of the camp that was happy that we gave Cole Anthony his new contract right?

ABs potential skillset seems too good to not get playing time in our rotation this upcoming season. I get being iffy at times his rookie year but if Cole is moved or is a dud on offense we don't play him. Simple as that.

Some of you guys need to go read what the OTHER fanbases think. Many are mad their team didn't get Goga and Gary at these prices. Denver fans are even more toxic about their team than we are.

$50M in cap space only to end up with KCP and retreads.

Hey, you could say that resigning Gary makes him an asset to trade again! We criticized them for not making a move at the deadline due to all the expiring contracts. Fultz had no value but they basically hit the reset button on all the players we failed to trade.

That's all I got, sorry. :dontknow:

Yeah reading the last few pages, the lack of history of making trades is a bit of cause for concern. The signings in themselves aren't bad, especially where there isn't much left on the market, but a consolidation trade would be very timely.... but it would be bucking the trend.

I don't have a problem with a single contract the Magic have given out so far this offseason.

KCP at 22, Goga at 8.3, Gary at 7 - all super fair and workable.

It just is a weirdly constructed roster with multiple assets that are literally depreciating in value as we speak.

Well, I was hoping he was not going to be a bust, but if they're not even gonna give him a chance, then it just goes to show how piss poor their scouting and draft manipulation skills are.

Remember that dude JJ Reddick. He was a project just like Jett. He's not a bust. He's a project. He's gonna take more time to develop. The guard depth is deep but significantly missing some key needs still. It's not panick time. I'm a little bummed too. I get that this isn't like hey we just got tmac and grant hill. I think we were all hoping it would be that summer. Buts its not. And we're still in a position to be competitive and we still have assets and depth. The window to drastically improve the team hasn't closed yet.

JJ worked extremely hard to earn what he got. Took him years including the weight room where he ended up pound for pound the strongest man on the team. I took picks of the chart when I visited the locker room. Black or Jett have to earn their own spots. If they cannot do it in practice, then they shouldn't be gifted in games.

Thing is, if Black is to develop into a worthy return for the 6th pick, he needs to play as a PG, not as SG. His playmaking potential combined with his size is why he was drafted so high. So the one blocking him now is Cole, not Harris. I don't think him playing as SG and spending most possessions watching Cole and Franz take turns handling the ball while he sits in the corner would help his development much.

We made Gary Harris a starter in the playoffs with 27 mpg. He gave us 4 ppg. Just wait until you see his stats with bench minutes. Teams will come begging for his services!!! TRADE HIM TO US PLEASE!!!!

Imagine if we offered 2 top 15 picks + pick a player for Murray.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.
