Tyus is just meh imo. Really like to have someone a little more capable in case of injury.

Any offense Center we can trade Goga or WCJ for, to pair with Isaac, for next year while Moe is out?

Given the Free Agent pool and our financial situation that player does not exist. Tyus Jones would be one of the best backup PG's in the league...he's already BEEN that with memphis.

Given our situation and the price he would cost, I cant think of how much better we can do. He fills a need.

It feels like if you play your cards right there might be bargains in FA.

If the front office does not add a scorer/shooter & scoring playmaker off the bench I'm going to be upset, lmao.

People have to realize that there is going to be a lot more staggering combos of Paolo/Franz/Bane/Suggs. Maybe we do get a scoring guard but I don't think the team wants to COMPLETELY bury Black and Jase, and limit too many minutes for our main guys too.

Re: Official 2025 Offseason Thread
Unless Moe gets an aggressive offer elsewhere, I fully expect the Magic to bring him back. His injury makes him risky for any team, so i don't know if anyone would really want to offer him enough to make him too expensive for the Magic (though every additional dollar hurts with the aprons). That was the kind of risk on the Magic's part, but I have to think they have a wink wink agreement with Moe before letting him out that they intend to bring him back afterwards. That could change if someone comes offering, but not many teams have cap space and the ones that do probably aren't going to want to break the bank on a 6th man coming off an ACL injury.
I'd be happy to bring in Tyus, as he's one of the best options out there that we can afford and he shoots at a high clip and has a great A:TO ratio.
Would like to see some changes at C, but would prefer to be through trades then free agency.

I've said this for a while now, but using assets to address the center role seems like a bad use in the modern NBA. Over the years we found guys like Dedmon, Birch, Mo Swag, Goga, etc with minimum priced free agency deals.

Those are great if you're talking bench guys, which I agree. But I wouldn't mind seeing a bigger upgrade for starting Center. i.e. trade WCJ + some other assets (Isaac, Jett, or future picks, depending on the value coming back) to boosting the starting Center spot, and then keep Moe and Goga on the bench and backfill any other spots with cheap (but effective) vets.
No idea who that upgrade would be, lol. But i don't see us finding anyone really better and improving our depth beyond Moe and Goga via free agency, so unless we trade we're just treading water at the C position, which isn't a bad move either to be clear. I won't be upset if we run it back with WCJ/Moe/Goga (with Isaac in certain spots). But if we're looking to upgrade, not sure we're finding anyone via FA that will do it, personally.

This is what I believe / hope for. I hate when we have a full bench line up in the game, and I think it only happened so much last year due to injuries. At least one of Paolo/Franz/Bane should always be on the floor at all times, and if they are then they are the #1 scoring option when they are in.

Jett has no value other than being an expiring after they don't pick up his option.eyriq wrote:Honestly if we can't get Jerome or NAW I'd prefer we run it back with Jett or Jase fighting for a rotation spot. If they suck we make a trade at the deadline.

I know I am in the minority, but I am, dare I say, "happy" with WCJ as a 5th starter.
Someone has to be the last option and I think he is really well suited to that role. Sure having a Turner or Hartenstein would be better, but those guys make a lot more than WCJ even at his new contract.

Re: Official 2025 Offseason Thread
Can't we use the MLE to sign multiple players. ?
How much is Chris Paul looking at? Can we sign Paul, Moe, and Houstan all under the MLE and then gives us a little more flexibility next year, or in trades later this year.

I don't have the utmost trust in WCJ as a player but he's someone that can be moved in a trade during the season if he underwhelms again. People that are just like "GET RID OF HIM AT ALL COSTS!!!" and acting like he's completely useless I definitely don't agree with though.

Re: Official 2025 Offseason Thread
You can’t really ask for better given Orlando’s situation than Tyus Jones.
Orlando needs playmaking, shooting and efficiency. Tyus provides that at an ELITE level.
It’s funny everyone calling him short and not a defender.
Here’s a fun stat, Tyus per bball index was statistically a better defender AND offensive player than both Collin Sexton AND the beloved Anfernee Simons. Hes still a negative defender, but keep that same energy you had for Sexton/Simons with Jones.
Also, it’s almost a picture perfect fit surrounding Tyus with + defenders in Black/Isaac/Goga.
I much much rather Tyus + Mo than just NAW or Jerome at the full MLE.
