Ibaka is day-to-day. I'm not expecting him to play Monday.

Not worried about guys missing preseason games. I want them when it counts.

The entire camp? It just started last week lol it goes until the end of October when the season starts.
I'm kinda curious too though why soreness would keep him out so much. Hope it isn't a lingering injury.

Don't know why people care so much about that. Just wait till the season starts, see how we do and if it turns out you were right, go rub it in someone's face if that's what you want.

Their whole thing is you can attack the post all you want but as soon as you start calling people haters, homers, idiots, etc. that's when they step in. So as much as he may be hating on the Magic, and as dumb as it sounds, can't really attack him just his dumb points.
General board is much more strict. A mod said that made fun of the southeast division which wasn't constructive at all so I replied "keep getting those and1s" and got formally warned... still don't completely understand but whatever. Water under the bridge.

Re: 2016 Official Speculation Thread: Episode V - We're talking about practice!
Problem with NBA fans in general is they still think Tobias Harris is really good and we should not have traded him and could have gotten more.
Except that when he was a free agent, barely anyone went after him and interviews with anon GMs, many stated that they are unsure if he will ever fit a true role due to his inability to guard SFs very well.
So when people criticize us for trading him for cap space I just laugh. Would you rather extend Aaron Gordon or have Tobias Harris? According to people who don't watch the Magic, Harris is better. If you watched the Magic you would probably rather retain Gordon even though Harris has put up better numbers since he has more experience.
It's annoying to read but nobody else watches Orlando. Wait until a year and then go read the Thunder mods opinions of Oladipo then. It will be fun, trust me. A lot of people are in denial about what they have or what other teams have. Then they see it in person and after a few months they accept the truth. Until then as Magic fans we simply have to hope our guys develop as we expect.
If you watch the Magic you probably know by now that Evan Fournier is a better fit for us at SG than Oladipo and Gordon is a much more talented player than Harris. Additionally we can now probably keep these guys long term since we don't have to overpay Oladipo next year and carry Harris's salary so he can come off the bench. That's going to be OKC's issue and DET's. And trust me, when it comes time to put ink to paper, their opinions will change.

Thanks j-ragg. I know it can be hard to make that distinction when it involves the team one roots for, but it is a significant difference.
I also wanted to point out that not all those posts were actually made by one poster. Some of those were people he was quoting in response or people who were responding to his posts. In his zeal to paint that poster as a hater, some posts got misappropriated.
But the bottom line is on a global forum we are going to allow both positive and negative opinions about each team---as long as the posts are made respectfully and aren't trolling/baiting/attacking.
I'd also point out that not one poster reported a single one of those posts. If you believe a post is unfair, you have to report it so that the Mods can review and address it. As hard as we try to catch everything its important if you believe a poster has crossed a line to hit that report button and we will handle it accordingly.
Thanks

I found it entertaining chuck, I wasn't crying foul. I just found it interesting from the outside.
It adds to the entertainment of the season, the rivalries created by fans.

Re: 2016 Official Speculation Thread: Episode V - We're talking about practice!
I think after a trade, both sides have unrealistic expectations of what they got back. Obviously, if a player is truly this unicorn perfect player, they wouldn't be traded.
I am comfortable with Ibaka because we have a defined role and a defined need that we specifically sought out and addressed by getting him. All we need him to do is defend the paint and block shots. If he can get us a few points and stay around maybe 15 or so, he's doing exactly what we need.
The guys out West and our friends to the North don't really know what Tobias or Dipo are, but they've seen highlights and both teams need someone to emerge as a true "star". OKC has Westbrook, but they needed him and another superstar to be what they were. I expect them to take a huge step back.
Detroit has Drummond, but he's a pretty poor man's Dwight in my opinion. They still need that star power.
We don't have anyone like that and we don't need Ibaka to be that for us. My complaint comes when, posters who shall not be named for fear that they will find a de-rail this thread again, go on and on for weeks about how we got the ultimate piece of trash in return.
I think we're going to be just fine. We shored up some weaknesses this offseason, and although we might to be an ECF team this year, to argue that we will be the same or worse is hopeful bias from other fan bases.

I love Ibaka. He is not a star but he is a floor leader who adds toughness to them team and also has a ton of playoff experience. A guy like that who can give you 15 a night plus defend at an elite level is what the Magic need.
I do think the plan to emphasize defense is being underrated by a lot of people, but we will see how it unfolds over the season.

I hope our offense is fast like the suns a few years ago. Fast offenses are fun to watch. It also seems to make sense with Vogel saying that great defense opens up a fast free flowing offense.

i am permanently banned from the general board for saying that i trusted Vogel over a poster on whether Gordon could play SF, as he criticized the thought of AG being able to play SF. and mods on the GB do baiting, but get covered by certain other mods.
i just avoid that board permanently now. makes it easier to avoid the hypocrisy.

From the O-Sen's interview with GM Hennigan.OS: Is everybody aside from Jodie Meeks ready to participate fully at the start of training camp on Tuesday?
RH: That’s the expectation. Aaron Gordon tweaked his ankle a few days ago. It’s not serious, but he may be a partial participant in the early goings. But we’re not quite sure yet.
OS: Is it possible that he’ll miss any preseason games?
RH: No.
GM Hennigan often keeps is cards close, so for an answer to be that direct, clearly this injury to Gordon's ankle is minor.
..
Ahem.

Barely? Lakers, Boston and Detroit were reported to have pursued him.

Also, reportedly, turned down a max offer by the Kings

The Tobias Harris deal wasn't a matter of Aaron Gordon or Tobias Harris, it was about what we got in return. Aaron Gordon's minutes are obviously a good consolation, but come on.. lol
And looking back, if we're just going to be signing Jeff Green for almost the same amount that we signed Tobias, I'd still prefer to keep Tobias.
