Re: UCF Football: vs uconn
I sent Rattler a tweet wondering if he has UCF on his mind? We need more people to reach out to him on twitter and see if he has UCF on his list?

UCF wrote:Knightro wrote:Optimus_Steel wrote:Dillon Gabriel left the team, wtf happened there?
Combination of a few things.
Gabriel didn't feel like he was a great fit for Malzahn's desired offense and felt like he could improve his NFL prospects (which IMO are quite low) in an offense that's more friendly to his skill set.
Gabriel also felt like he could maximize his potential NIL income at a bigger, more high profile school.
His decision to transfer wasn't a surprise though. Gabriel was cleared to play over two weeks ago and he chose not to. The program knew for a while that he was not going to come back.
It’s a new college football landscape with NIL. He didn’t sign up for playing for Gus either. If I recall right, he really wanted Lebby to be coach.
It certainly seems like last summer he was pretty upset that Lebby didn't get the job. I recall him taking down his UCF stuff on social media, and then putting it back up a few days later. Presumably he was close to transferring then, but Gus talked him into giving it a shot here. By the time the season started he probably knew he wasn't a great fit for Gus' system, and once he got hurt, why risk playing when he can save a year (not that i think he intends to play 3 more seasons) and transfer to a better fit (especially since transferring now is easier and doesn't come with the cost of a year)? Plus a school where he can capitalize more on NIL and make more money? I get it. There are plenty of rumors on more dysfunction with him and the team, but as far as i'm concerned it's just gossip getting twisted.
It's crazy to think he has 3 more years if he wants though. he played his first year, last year was a freebie, and this year is a redshirt since he didn't play more than 4 games.

Re: UCF Football: vs uconn
On a tragic note, Otis Anderson was shot and killed by his father last night. His mother is in the hospital, hopefully she survives. The father was arrested this morning.

I saw that this morning, heart breaking stuff. It'll be interesting to find out what the hell
sucks about DG but I get it. I hope Gus can bring in a quality class and get this moving back the right direction.

Woke up today and still can’t believe this happened. Reading about how it happened just makes me even more upset at how pointless of a tragedy this is.

Some things will never make sense. I couldn’t even fathom what could drive someone to do that to a member of their own family.

Genuinely surprised we’ll be playing the gators for our bowl game.

Well it certainly sounded like the Gators tried their best to get someone else, lol. Glad to see it's happening though. I'll definitely be there.

Re: UCF Football: #2 RIP
Based on our 8 wins do we think the Gators are actually our best opponent possible?
Other teams with 8 wins- Arkansas, Central Michigan, Texas A &M, Wisconsin, Arizona State, Purdue, SMU, Minnesota, UCLA, Nevada, Army, UAB, Western Ketucky
7 win teams- Kansas State, Penn State, Miami Hurricanes, Washington State, Tennessee, Iowa State, Miss State, Western Michigan, Georgia State, Kent State, Oregon State, UTEP, Toledo
The only teams worth it would be Arkansas, Texas A&M, Tennessee and Miami Hurricanes. Miami Hurricanes could have been another potential in state matchup. Texas A&M beat Alabama. If Arkansas, Texas A&M and Miami didn't exist in the discussion, than Florida Gators is definetly our best opponent possible with our 8 wins.

Re: UCF Football: #2 RIP
Why are they complaining? Were they expecting to play in the college playoff?UCF wrote:UCFJayBird wrote:UCF wrote:Genuinely surprised we’ll be playing the gators for our bowl game.

It's the old "all risk, no reward" reasoning. Basically if they beat UCF, it's expected, but if they lose it's a huge deal. i think that's not as big of a case as it was 5-10 years ago, plus we now have that future series on the books, so it makes it less objectionable (plus with UCF going to the Big XII it becomes less of a perception of lesser to them).

Re: UCF Football: #2 RIP
Bo Nix announced he was transferring from Auburn.
I’d expect UCF to have significant interest there. They’re very much looking for an experienced QB from the transfer portal.
