Just like the Wolves when they drafted Rubin and Flynn, both PGs, at #5 and #6, and Steph Curry was the #7 pick, right?

The shooting was never his strong suit even when they out him in the top 5. I think he fell because his "rivals" just showed more skills in what the NBA prioritizes more nowadays.

or a combo of both

Suns did that too. Drafted Bender, traded for Chriss. Pass on Sabonis. Twice.

I’ll actually be surprised at this point if he falls past Toronto.

It depends really. Is OG a sf or sg? FVV is their pg or sg? Also, is TOR thinking they can challenge for the ring in 2 years at the most? or more likely a longer reload for 4yrs? Cuz depending on your answers that could mean Suggs or Kuminga.

There’s just something about a:

FVV - Trent Jr - Kuminga - OG - Siakam

lineup that you try to make work. I see this as a better variety of talent than a Suggs/FVV back court. I believe Trent to be a starter in this league.

Masai and his connections with African outreach programs isn’t something to take for granted when I look at that kind of decision.

Also, with rumors about Warriors possibly trading Wiseman + #7 for Siakam on draft night would make the lineup: FVV - Trent - OG - Kuminga - Wiseman

Ty Lawson was drafted by the wolves as well but traded on draft night

THIS!

I can understand the sadness of not being able to choose one of the stud guards ( Cade Green Suggs) but Kuminga is clearly heads and shoulders BPA in everything over the Moody, Bouknight and (debatable) Barnes. This is the 5th pick we are talking about. If Kuminga is the one left, take it and run.

I think Kuminga's inefficiency in his 13 games in the G-League has hit his current value... but possibly has not hit the trajectory of his potential. I think that with players like chuma, cole, and RJ on our team... we might have a collection of chipped shoulders. :-D

So the #7 pick is in the bench?

From a projected #2 to a projected #5. Still not that bad or big of a hit. Compared to say Todd and Nix. projected 20s guys to now mid SRP... I bet they are regretting not signing with a NCAA team now.

Could you imagine if Kuminga didn't reclassify and was a college freshman next season? He'd probably average near 30 ppg as a freshman.

To me, it is a no brainer. If Magic stays at 5, we pick Kuminga. We need help at forward spot. He and JI could be a good combo.

Unless we trade up, I am not drafting Barnes or Keon. Both good defenders. But offense worths more

IF Kuminga followed the timeline, he probably would be playing for a blue-blood right now. The way ESPN hypes these kids you would think he and Banchero's team would be like MJ's (72 win) bulls were meeting Curry's (73 win) Warriors.

Not to mention the fact with the small sample production he had against grown men.. it would be Zion v2.0 this time

Exactly.... so that's why... I personally hope that everyone chooses in order and kuminga is available at 5. Upside is through the roof.... and depending on how he is utilized... his floor might be higher than expected.

I know at one time this board wanted a natural 3 that could score. The way Kuminga can get shots up, he'll probably be a 25 ppg player eventually.

Thats the thing isnt it, what is the correct order? I guarantee you the top 5 teams right now has probably different order in the draft. I know we are sour on JK and expect him at 5, but TOR and maybe CLE has him.probably higher with their situation.

Thus im all for choosing who is left.

Its harder to find a scorer than a shooter.

Kuminga has the ability of a scorer. If he becomes a better shooter, watch out.

If Top 4 goes as expected, then we better draft Kuminga.

Yup... I can easily see him going as high as cleveland at #3. And agreed... I would prefer him more than suggs... but based on needs.... they could roll with going big and add Mobley next to okoro and allen.... or trade sexton/garland and shift okoro to the 2 and kuminga to the 3.... while maybe finessing love to play. we will see.

Ok folks.. what have we learned from these POs? Its that you cant make your team the best 8 anymore. Or have 1 mvp , 2 tier 2 stars and below average cast. Or have 3 tier1 stars and a garbage cast. With all these injuries it looks like the winner will be the one who has the least injured star with a decent lineup still playing...

I know lineups tend to get shortened from the RS to the POs but if this injury trend continues.. you better make sure your 11 guys can play and perform cuz you will never know what will happen.

With that said.. we better not trade 8 and we better use 33 for the bpa..

a) Barnes and Moody do not play the same position (and I am not a fan of Barnes; this was just the thought of the all wing-span team).

b) Rubio was more than worth his draft slot, and Flynn flamed out. So if the goal was for Minny to take i two players to assess which to keep, that worked out. Of course at 6 and 7 a team would hope for one starter and one rotational player, at least.

For me, if you have #6 and #7 picks in the same draft and you use both in a PG, it shows that you don't know what you are doing, especially if you passed on Steph Curry. Curry would at least make sense because he was a top scorer and then you could have Rubio, who is bigger, playing SG in D and PG in O.
