Also if anyone can find a way to fix Franz + Paolo 3-ball please do. I have legit concerns that long term it won't work out because of this.

I would, in fact, argue that the weakest link would be the FO that did not make any trades or free agency moves of value for about 4 years while our coach brought us structure and a defined style of play to help us get to the playoffs for the first time in forever.

Fans are always going to blame coaches first. I realize that. If Nurse, Malone, Budenholzer, Bickerstaff, Thibs, Snyder, etc, can have fingers pointed at them as the "issue", so can Mose. But history often shows replacements are worse or fans are just flat out wrong and want change at the easiest level because players are the golden goose.

That being said, we have a legit reputation as a team now, have been a consistent top 2-3 team on defense (which is hard to get young guys to buy into), and have had relative success in the last two years compared to a decade plus of incompetence, and that's with massive amounts of injury and roster imbalance. It ain't perfect, but he's helped put us in a great spot compared to a lot of teams in the league.

I think you overs-imply my stances with other fans. If I could fire the entire front office I could and already would have. WWWWAAAYYYY before Mose.

Mann is perpetually injured and would just be another non-playmaker though? Completely different player from Tyus

Tyus would fit a major need on this team imo (playmaking, health, consistency)

this whole idea of Tyus being this "playmaking" guard, he had 1 year of 7 apg, otherwise he has been around 4-5 apg. as a PG, i would hope he could accomplish that.

Now go back and look at his AST/TO ratio each season for the last several seasons

To note, Tyus took his sweet time signing with the Suns last summer. Wonder if the same happens where he’s looking for a bigger deal that won’t be available.

It’s almost too obvious that we sign Tyus Jones. He really checks off so many needs. This is why we obsessed over him last summer. Only now after a nightmare season in Phoenix, dude knows the Magic are a better team. He isn’t demanding to start. He’ll still play consistently and start some games because of injuries. And a guy he knows he can play well with (Bane) is here. $5-5.5 million should be enough.

Ingles signs for $3.5 mil. to stay another year with Minneapolis (even though his family is still down here and he keeps buying more Winter Park/Maitland property).
We need Joe back with our franchise. Whether that’s a 15th man or as a coach.

that just show that he takes care of the ball, which is a very good thing. I have nothing against Jones and I would be fine with him as our backup PG. i just dont necessarily see him as a "playmaker"

His assists/100pos are fine, at 10.1 for his career and super consistent. Thats Top15 in whole league. On offense he is an average starting PG. Its his defense that makes him a backup. But a pretty good one, on one side of the court :D

Gotcha so it’s just the title your hung up on

This team needs a guy who can:

- organizes the offense
- sets up others
- get assists
- doesn’t turn the ball over

Whatever you call a guy who provides the above.. playmaker, floor general, plumber, barista.. we need it

Not that you are necessarily saying anything to the contrary, but Mose has real pressure on him this year. You can look around at the landscape of the league and see how short of a leash Coaches have these days.

Anything short of us having a very competitive 6-7 game Semi-finals next year could mean his job. There is too much financial commitment with this team at this point, and there are still questions around the league regarding how much of our offensive struggles boil down to poor construction and how much comes down to Mosely's rudimentary play design and offensive scheme in general.

We will find out this year. I still lean towards let's just get Bane and another Shooter/playmaker in the building and I think a lot of the doubts about Mose and this core will be answered.

Would love if we signed Kennard. One of the best shooters around.

Adding Tyus and keeping Mo would be very, very solid.

Idiosyncratic wrote:The value of these non-defending guards who offer nothing but scoring has cratered this offseason. Hornets not even willing to risk having Tre Mann for 7 million. Obviously he makes no sense with Sexton (who they were paid an asset to acquire!), but to even think they can't swap him for something positive at 7 million is wild. GMs just got together and said why do we keep paying these guys to negatively impact winning I guess

That being said I kind of like Mann. Was finally getting his first real chance last year and looked solid before the injury. Has shown some rebounding ability and ability to get steals in the past so not sure he is strictly a "scoring only guard", but probably mostly is. Him vs Tyus would be an interesting debate if they both cost 5-7 million. I think this team is really going to want a true PG for insurance though, which Tre isn't.

If we have a shot at Mann we have to go get him! Mann would’ve give us bench shooting and scoring, some more passing capability and a much potential higher ceiling than Tyus could ever show. Bring him back to Florida!

At $7M a season that’s Jett money. Hell, swap Jett for him!

I don't love Tyus' defense but he provides a diff look than other PGs/guards we've had in the past. Tre Mann is a better Cole and we have Jase basically who projects to be a similar sort of player.

I'm down for his brother. Younger ... Bigger.... Pep in his step on the defensive end even with his size while still being efficient.

Magic got a front row seat for this game and might have taken notes. Haha

I feel bad for him. He’s such an amazing person, I just wish he was a more consistent scorer.
