I didn’t listen to his reasoning behind this.

Why does Cleveland move on from Garland when many suspect Mitchell might be a target of the Lakers and other big market clubs this summer?

I am hard pressed to think Donovan Mitchell is going to turn down a supermax extension from Cleveland.

Now he very well may sign the extension and demand a trade right after, but I dunno man.

That is an ungodly amount of money to turn away.

Yes. He's a lot closer to Paolo than many here would want to admit.

Evaluating anyone on OKC is difficult because they are sharing the court with the best two way player in the league right now.

Nah. He cooks even when SGA is off the court. The dude can shoot the ball and is crafty. What does help is that Presti is smart enough to fill the roster with shooters.

JWill: 45% from 3
K. Williams: 39% from 3
Bertans: 42% from 3
Chet: 39% from 3
Dortz: 39% from 3
Cason: 42% from 3
SGA: 36% from 3
I. Joe: 42% from 3

Paolo's efficiency (and assists) would jump through the roof on that squad... but that doesn't mean Jalen isn't amazing. 54/45/80 is nothing to scoff at.

Well looks like Murray is being held out of tonight's game against Boston so let's speculate away!

Murray #1 for me

Said it earlier I think in this thread...Alex Caruso is definitely a player I would love to snag.

Man that garland trade is a lil rich for my blood. And I don't think the magic are that keen on swapping black and Jett for a garland. Yes .... he fits the shooting.... but what about the defense.... annnnnd then he plays with Paolo and Franz who everyone believes should have the ball in their hands. I can see us all of a sudden looking over the fence as we watch those two continue to grow into things we wanted. Lol

Let me make it aggravating speculation: Coming off of a 28pt performance the other day, D'Angelo Russell is being listed as game time decision for tomorrow's game with no injury actually listed.

"Russell (undisclosed) underwent an undisclosed "treatment" on Tuesday and didn't practice Wednesday, and he will likely be listed as questionable for Thursday's game against Denver, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reports."

Agreed.

Still, Cleveland is playing well as currently constructed. What reason is there to break this group up?

I get it’s a “Godfather offer” — can’t refuse and all that, but still …

Cleveland's run started with Garland out. They went 15-4 in the 5 weeks he missed.

And since he came back, he's only taking 8 shots a game. Mitchell took over the team basically.

Mitchell > Garland

Mitchell would be insane on this team.

Garland would be one hell of a get as well.

I would imagine that if you're looking for the Cavs to ultimately decide to break things up (and "break up" isn't really accurate because they'd only be dealing one of their main four guys and keeping the other three), then you'd have to hope they flame out in the first round again.

Feels like a summer move, if it happens at all.

Yes. Who really thinks the Cavs are going to blow it up? I mean really. They are playing fantastic. Have not even been healthy. If anything they will maybe try and add.

Again, blow it up is not really an accurate way to describe it.

If the Cavs traded Garland, they'd still have All-NBA player Mitchell at lead guard, All-Defense Mobley at PF, and All-Star Allen at C surrounded by like 6 shooters, plus a bunch of trade ammo to go out and get more pieces with Black/Jett/multiple 1sts.

Garland is a better playmaker, really if Cleveland are willing to accept such a offer, we do it, but i dont know why they would. with bucks and 76s health issues the road to conference finals is wide open.

To be clear, Garland isn't going anywhere right now regardless of what the Magic or any other team offers.

But they *may* consider trading him away if they flame out early in the playoffs and they feel confident Mitchell will sign his supermax extension.

Why would we compare JWill to Paolo? No team was picking JWill at #1.

Garland would be an absolute dream player to team up with Paolo and Franz. Give anyone else on the roster for him if he's even a little available.

It seems pretty quiet so far around the league. I keep checking once in a while, expecting something.

I'm still convinced Markelle won't play another game for the Magic.
