We condense our assets and make a big move.

Suggs,
KCP, Harris, Jett
Franz, Da Silva, Houstan
Paolo, Isaac,
Towns, Bitazde

Then we can add Moe, Joe and maybe even have enough for Tyus jones.

Thoughts?

Am I missing something with the Timberwolves and wanting to part with KAT? Nothing against you but this is about the 4th trade idea I have read on here about trying to get him.

As for your idea, I wouldn't be opposed to it as long as we got Tyus Jones before the trade.

I don't have a problem with a single contract the Magic have given out so far this offseason.

KCP at 22, Goga at 8.3, Gary at 7 - all super fair and workable.

It just is a weirdly constructed roster with multiple assets that are literally depreciating in value as we speak.

Bro what are you smoking on? I am not saying we will be.

We literally are. You can pick out any players you want, and make any claims you want.

But the stats dont lie. We are the #2 defense in the nba with this same squad, no matter how much you want to single out because you wanted another player. There is no way to spin it so we arent a top 2 defense with WCJ. Stats prove it, big claims dont.

...and we got elimnated in Round 1. Hooray for being a top 2 defense?

We had a huge opportunity to get better this year. We're never going to have this amount of cap space again in the Paolo era. We squandered it royally.

You can't just move the goalpost. If you don't like the offseason moves (or lackthereof) fine, but you said the Magic won't be a defensive juggernaut, you were proven wrong, and then you went on to mention a result in the playoffs that didn't matter to what he was saying.

Which is also funny considering we also held the Cavs to the lowest points in the playoffs, which further proves his point.

Wow

I'm dying to know where they plan on playing him

To me this, this almost HAS to mean a trade is coming, probably Cole and wcj for a center, it's the only thing that makes sense why you would bring him back for 7m per, it's not to be the 13th guy on the bench

Would like to think that but I don’t think they’ll make any trade.

I'm torn on Towns.

On one hand he's a legitimate all-star still very much in his prime at 28 years old. He averaged 22-8-3 on VERY close to a 50-40-90 shooting season and this team really needs more offensive firepower.

On the other hand, he still has 4 years, $220M left on his contract, and I'm just not sure you can be a viable team defensively if he's your starting center.

21-22 was the only year the Wolves were even remotely good defensively (13th) when Towns was their center. They were HORRIBLE on defense every other year of his career.

They obviously had a great defense with Gobert at C and Towns at PF, but he'd be back at center in Orlando.

I'd probably have to pass ultimately.

Yeah I don’t know if I love it either but it would definitely make us a better offensive team and definitely give Paolo and Franz a bunch of driving lanes. If anybody can get Towns to defend it could be mose.

Watch us turn around and swap Cole, WCJ and picks for Trae Young.

After solidifying a few years ahead with stable contracts we can handle, perhaps we can then handle that crazy contract and extend our big 3?

Maybe a few more years in the G-League and Jett may become a 12 thru 15thh player on a team. Black has a future as a defensive specialist. Most likely as a role player that this team could utilize. Will be up to Black if he can do better. And, he got minutes which was more than Reddick got in the beginning, so people complaining should just sit back and see if he can earn more. This is all up to Black, not the coaching staff.

Because years 3 and 4 are club options, and they have to be picked by Oct. 31, 2024 for year 3 and Oct. 31, 2025 for year 4, they don’t really have that much time.

Black will most definitely be picked up because a defensive specialist making under $10 mil per is quite valuable. I predict Jett will be declined.

I think Gary was underrated by many last year. His injuries sucked but his defense and shooting in some games helped us a lot.

But I want him as a 3rd stringer this year. I want Jett to at least get a chance or AB to have some minutes somewhere.

We're a very deep team, but most coaches are going to play the proven veterans over rookies that still need seasoning.

The only signing I haven't understood. But I do get it if he's a 3rd stringer and maybe used in a trade this year.

Awesome, we re-signed Harris.

Next up let's give Fultz a new deal and we'll be contending for years to come.

I don't care how big a Magic homer someone is, nobody can say these moves instill confidence going forward. What's next? Okeke is our starting SF next season?

Exciting.

Atlanta owes San Antonio their unprotected 2025 1st, a 2026 pick swap, and their unprotected 2027 1st. They are not trading Trae unless they get players back that keep them out of the lotto.

The way forward is always trades. This free agency crop dried out after the top 4-5 guys and we got one of them.

If we have a mix of the vets that were actually solid for us with some of the young guys (Jett/AB/da Silva) coming into their own, it will be a really fun year.

Apples and oranges.

Those guys were drafted to teams that were still tanking and the Magic are not in that place anymore.

Exactly why the young kids didn’t get much burn last year. Cause they aren’t ready to play yet.

Minutes are earned now.

To be honestly, I can see Paolo, Franz, and Suggs starting even when this team weren’t tanking.

I can imagine the years with Vuc, Fournier, Gordon, I would start the current players over the latter.

Yes. Cause we’re playing our best players now.

Just so happens AB and Jett were not physically built to handle the rigors of the NBA. It was evident last year, there were some instances AB still looked physically young and inexperienced.

I think some gotta accept that AB and Jett aren’t guaranteed anything. Just because they were lottery picks doesn’t mean the team is forced to prioritize their development. Most lottery picks that get drafted in the range we took those two (6-11) don’t turn out to be much anyways. If they are good enough to play, they will. Re-signing Gary tells me that Mosley isn’t comfortable relying on those two in the second unit yet.

Yup. Donovan Mitchell, Devin Booker, and De'Aaron Fox are some of the top names I would keep an eye on depending on their team situation over the next year or two. All it takes is a guy saying they want out.

Not to rehash this argument again but AB could've played over Fultz for sure but neither of them really solved the PG issue. AB did not feel comfortable driving into the paint at all and wasn't running an offense. Fultz has experience there and could dribble and penetration but had no semblance of an offensive game and didn't space the floor or shoot threes. Both options weren't great.

But I def understood why Mose went with Gary over Jett. Our record with Gary has been really good as a starter, but it was clear his injury was bothering him late. That's why having someone like KCP is pretty big, imo.

That’s all great to say but I think you need to give them at least a chance to earn those minutes. I don’t see any path for Jett to earn minutes over a healthy Harris.
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

I feel bad if any players read this board lmao.. overachieve like hell with a young team, give the city pride and fun for the first time in forever.. and SO many people are against bringing a lot of them back.. I understand the arguments when it comes to certain things but I do think they know in their heart of hearts where they will need to improve to get to that NEXT step.. you also can't force it and ruin everything though.
