Hahaha, hahahahaha, ha. I think the view is that Cole is a mid-range playmaker on offense and a HIDE on defense, while AB is seen as a table setter on offense and point of attack defender on defense.

The Magic's situation with Suggs and the Rockets' situation with Green and Sengun feels pretty significantly different.

Orlando obviously wants to keep Suggs, but they're just working on finding the appropriate middle ground on money.

For Sengun specifically, his cap hold is going to be way less than his year 1 salary next year (16.2M cap hold v. 38.6M year 1 max salary), so they're financially incentivized to wait like the Sixers did with Maxey as they project to be a cap space team with FVV, Adams, Landale and Jeff Green and Tate all coming off the books. That's almost $80M in expiring contracts.

With Green, I genuinely don't think they're set on whether or not he's a guy they want to commit a massive contract to or not. And if they are, they're still incentivized to wait because his cap hold is still about 8M less than his year 1 salary would be on a max.

If they're planning to be big players in free agency next summer, they have reason to wait on extending those guys.

Rockets haven’t extended Green or Sengun either yet.

They could have $100m in capspace next season, and Sengun's cap hold is like $16m. So, I'll be surprised if he signs an extension.

What!!!!! Former magic killer Cory Joseph??? This is intresting. This to me even more signals that a trade will Coen at some point involving cole. Ab pushed to primary back up with Cory Joseph being the 3rd string emergency pg.

I just dont get why the need for 2 years? Hopefully it's low and not guaranteed.

That’s pretty much correct. I do see TDS getting minutes ahead of Caleb at SF and PF minutes.

WCJ, Moe, and JI can all play PF minutes and I don’t see any left over.

Cole is also very unlikely in my opinion. His self creation and play making is only 3rd to Paolo and Franz. That’s very important. I also don’t think they want to trade to upgrade Cole as Jett/Black need space to take his spot.

I really think Cole sticks. Look at that second unit. Someone has to be the scorer. I know the Magic like to stagger lineups but right now it’s going to need Cole’s offense with the lack of shooting.

I’m definitely in the minority with this take, I think the team sees Anthony as a prime bounce back candidate and cog in what they want to do this season.
