Excellent. Had a feeling that WeHamPark were looking for 1 year deals. Good move for a need.

Very good move for ATL. I think he will be worth 15.5 mil per.
We just have to hold our heads up high if we tried. We could not physically go over 14.1 mil per, and ATL even gave NAW 4 years, a Trade Kicker, AND a Player Option.

Re: Official 2025 Offseason Thread
I wouldn't have been unhappy, necessarily, with having NAW on the team. But I do think this board has been prone to overrating him from the moment he was drafted. I don't even remember how that draft played out. Was it Okeke that year? I don't remember. I just remember all kinds of irrational rage at not getting NAW. And ever since, he's always a guy that comes up. I think he has turned himself into a good player but he's not amazing or anything.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

This offseason is like Weltman made a list of everything Magic fans have been wanting for the past several seasons.

Just bring back Mo and all is forgiven Mr. Weltman. You have done well this summer.

Called it. Surprised it’s $7 mil. instead of $5-5.5 mil.
Makes me think a trade is coming.

Re: Official 2025 Offseason Thread
Tyus Jones isn't an all-star and he has his well-documented defensive shortcomings. But his strengths (open shooting and low-turnover play) help significant weaknesses, so I have been interested in seeing how he can potentially help us. And as a 1 year deal, it's kind of a home run.

Re: Official 2025 Offseason Thread
I mean I would have preferred Jerome at $9M, but with his antics last season I understand why Orlando decided this route which is still really good value.
Here’s a couple of insights from Phoenix posters regarding Tyus and his play last season:

Here’s a couple of insights from Phoenix posters regarding Tyus and his play last season:
Tyus Jones is a pretty solid but low usage PG. He's a good ball control guard and doesn't take too many risks with the ball, hence his low turnover rate. Decent three point shooter. Not a great defender but quick enough to stay in front of his man.
I would probably say he's better suited to being the lead guard coming off the bench but as a starter... I'm less impressed. We thought he was going to really show us something and that we'd be really reliant on his ability but what we were shown was that his reliability wasn't all that and he was benched in favor of a harder playing rookie.
It could be a situational kind of thing and maybe he just wasn't the fit we needed; then again, Budenholzer really didn't seem to let him do his job in running the offense and despite his ability, seemingly favored Booker and Beal to be the primary ball handler. We paid for it when that happened, so it's hard to say if that's more of a tell on Jones or Budenholzer.
He's actually a great shooter, but it's all catch-and-shoot. That combined with his ball protection make him a very positive contributor in the right role (see MEM, 2022-23). If you give him the ball on offense and surround him with players who can create open looks, his positives on offense should outweigh the fact that he's unable to defend pro players one-on-one. Bringing him off the bench also reduces the opportunities the opponent will have to target him on defense with their best (starting) players.
He essentially can't guard pro players, so he's neutral at best as a starter. And if you take the ball out of his hands, he's basically just a tiny catch-and-shoot guy - which turns him into a negative on the court.
Those were the two things that worked against him in Phoenix. We needed a starter - he's a great backup. He needs the ball in his hands - but no Suns coach can resist the temptation to put the ball in Devin Booker's hands.

Alright... difference between Tre and Tyus and why did we go for Tyus?
