Magic Rumor: I was told by multiple sources that Otis Smith will "aggressively" pursue Steve Nash before the trade deadline.

I would love Nash. Problem is I don't want to give up Anderson for him and I'm not sure who else could get him. Nash with D12 and Ryan would be sick.

Otis has been actively pursuing everyone, but it takes 2 to tango.

The only trade I could see with PHX is Nelson+JJ+Ryno for Nash+Frye. Not sure if either team does it, though.

^^^ yeah I don't want to give up Ryan for Nash :-/

I would assume it would be Nash/Childress or Nash/Frye for Nelson/Redick/???...

"Aaron Gordon will cost Henny's job by Dec 2016." Predicted Dec 2014.

"O'Quinn will have a longer and more successful NBA career than Nicholson." Predicted Jun 2012. Verified on Dec 2014.

I have this bad feeling that we won't do squat, no trade that makes us better and we ride it out with Dwight. MAYBE a lateral move, at best. We've been let down so many times by trade rumors that I just don't believe we'll have anything good coming our way in the coming weeks. Dwight goes to FA and signs with Dallas or Nets, leaving us with Hedo, Doodoo and the rest of the gang. Hellooooo freefall!

Hope I'm wrong..

Problem is, PHX would hold out for Ryan since he'd be the centerpiece to the trade. Redick is a hell of a player, but you don't trade Steve Nash for a package centered around JJ. He's the supplemental piece to the trade.

I wouldn't put Ryan in a deal for Nash, but I would offer them a top 5 protected '13 (Dwight may leave which would all but guarantee a lottery pick there, but I wouldn't give up a top 5 pick for Nash either, so we'd protect it that far) alongside Nelson/Redick. Personally I think a Nelson/Redick/'13 isn't a bad return on a 38 year old Nash.

If we get Nash without giving up Ryno this team will be dangerous. Nash may be able to get J Rich his numbers that he was getting in PHX. Not to mention the PnR with Dwight. Just look at the numbers Gortat is putting up, Dwights numbers could be scary good.

****. so we end up giving Phx their young core (Gortat & Anderson, & multiple draft picks) for their old vets (Nash, JRich, Turk)?

It's not a 'bad' return, but it sure ain't a good one, either. For a rebuilding team like Phoenix, what intrigues them is young players and picks. Neither Nelson or Redick fit that bill. While the pick has potential, if Nash comes to Orlando and rejuvenates the team, Dwight stays and the pick becomes worthless.

Now Ryan...he's the centerpiece to a trade and something they would covet.

We really shouldn't give up Ryan for a Nash rental, no matter how good Steve's playing this season

Who we should give up, is Duhon 8-)

Yeah, not to mention the fact that Hedo becomes [even more] obsolete with Nash on the team. You'd have to bench him if you acquired Nash.

Could be a blessing because Hedo could finally come off the bench and try to spark the second unit.

WOW

this is an absolute game changer...their big decision maker Jim Buss dismissed that possibility earlier this season...how legit is that source anyone know ??
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."
