As part of this process, one source said, Orlando will continue to seek a "definitive answer" from Howard about his future and hold out hope that he'd at least agree to exercise the option for next season on his current contract to give their marriage at least one more year. But Howard, according to associates, is determined to become a free agent in July in order to have complete control of his future and get to one of the top two destinations on his wish list: New Jersey or Dallas.

Not surprised considering Stein wrote this
The Dallas angle is unlikely

One source close to the situation told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher that the Magic have promised Howard that they will add a quality player before Thursday's deadline and that Howard can decide the fate of both GM Otis Smith and coach Stan Van Gundy at the end of the season if he signs an extension. Bucks swingman Stephen Jackson, frustrated in Milwaukee, is available and sources say he and Howard have talked about playing together.

But sources close to the situation told ESPN.com on Monday that the Warriors remain uninterested in parting with Ellis unless the trade lands Howard in Oakland. Golden State and Houston are at the top of the list of teams willing to go for a so-called "rental" trade for Howard this week with no guarantee that the NBA's reigning defensive player of the year will stay beyond the end of the season.

Yeah... .the Dallas part is not happening

I know ESPN is crapping on us a bit for trying to go after Ellis... but there is legs to the rumor... heck, remember YBR from TBN saying Dwight and Monta talked earlier today. He was the guy that broke the rumored trade deal first... then Jarrod... then Kennedy, Stein, Kyler, and now Berger are giving it some life.

Something has to happen. We need this bad... I want Ellis here... I want those Nets fans that spammed us for the past several months to eat crow.

Oh, interesting Stein article...Dwight gets to axe Otis and/or Stan in the summer, gets to play with 3 of the 5 on his preferred list, and gets a top 3 seed in the East this year? Things could be worse.

I disregard the GSW chatter about not moving Ellis unless it's for Howard.

Stan should stay, Otis tenure is definitely up after this season.

This from another realgm thread:

Woelfel now on the postgame show.

Woelfel---wondering if Bucks might decide to "win now" if they win the next couple games or if they are still contemplating "everyone is available so blow it up"

Said a number of teams not showing all their cards yet in Bogut offers but things would get serious on Monday and Tuesday. Gery heard a few of the deals and said they are "very, very intriguing". John Hammond will have a tough choice.

In discussion of Ersan, Gery said Ersan will double his salary if not more in off-season. Josh asking him if Bucks can afford to keep Ersan given how Bucks are structured (i.e. not contenders).

Gery now hearing rumors about Drew Gooden and Mbah a Moute in possible deals. And now said Jennings not "absolutely safe" and being linked to a trade and hearing "wild things". Gery said he just heard the Jennings rumor this afternoon.

Josh asked Gery if Thursday deadline could be franchise changing day. Gery said Vegas over/under on number of NBA deadline day trades at 6.5. Gery said he thinks the Bucks could do that many all themselves (laughing).

Gery said most teams make their big deals in the off-season for PR push reasons. So realistically there won't be many trades. But Gery said circumstances dictate the Bucks making a major trade. Could be Jennings, could be Bogut.

So we're not dealing for Monta until after Dwight signs an extension? :|

I don't see this in the article.

He was just paraphrasing/quoting the Ken Berger article we read a couple hours ago.

But there is a new article from ESPN, posted in the previous page.

I should put up a disclaimer in this thread saying: "DJRajX and this thread is not responsible for your relationships being ruined, your boss firing you, you're grades in class dropping, lack of sleep, injuries/accidents, and you're overall quality of life and health becoming poor. Thank You."

That's what Berger seems to be insinuating. Or at least a commitment. I thought he wasn't going to sign an extension. Was going to be a FA anyway, even if he was coming back to Orlando.

So to pass the time while we wait i saw this on my yahoo facebook thing pretty hilarious http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutd ... _multiline
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

Well as we all know... Dwight won't sign an extension before the summer.. he loses money if he signs an extension now

Maybe AN AGREEMENT to sign in the summer would suffice?
