lol ... That post was the last one on pg.9 and I felt like it got missed out
I agreed with it. I think every scenario can be an advantage if played right. i am not too worried about any player move. i just hope the organization handles this thing like a great franchise with championship aspirations and rich collective legacy would.
protecting the orlando magic brand is more important than anything, it will define our future. Are we gonna be the houston rockets or are we gonna be the boston celtics when they sucked for a half decade?
Exactly. I was too worked up on trading Dwight last night... saying that we should get something in return for him; I was missing the big picture... he's gone... he's going to be gone anyway, whether we trade him or not.
When Dwight leaves, we aren't contenders anymore. I'd rather us tank and be a bottom team that gets a high pick than a mediocre/.500 team that got back Lopez and Brooks (or some other package).
Preferably if there IS a Dwight trade package (probably from a rental team) that is stellar and keeps us competitive (top 4 team in the East), I would do it!
But now I'm more open to the situation. I think we all shouldn't argue over whether we should trade Howard or keep him for the rest of the season (we all know he'll leave this summer). He's leaving anyway. It's time for us to look toward the future and rebuild (draft, clear cap, sign FAs).
It's about the Magic franchise, not Dwight. We have to do what's best for the franchise at all times.
