No way is that late draft pick or draft picks worth adding $24M + Tax Penalty to our salary.

No "damn you Hennigan" needed here.

If we waive hedo and Harrington which we will prob do, we wouldn't really have been into the tax penalty. Right at the edge basically but nothing to really matter. And does adding that salary matter? We prob aren't signing anybody this summer anyways? I never understand this "money" thing on this board. If it affects your cap ability fine, but if its merely a year more of paying a little more $ and ownership doesn't care then why does that matter?

Correct. If it would put us into tax, no way I do that. Those pics will be late late 1sts, not worth it at all. Good for Utah though, they needed the salary and got picks for just meeting the min salary level.

I agree. He showed some flashes at times but nothing consistent. He has potential sure, in the same way that Moe does, but I don't see why everyone is so sure he's gonna be amazing.

Or in college. He made his name on scoring, but was never very efficient at UNC.

Does Houston miss out on Howard because they didn't get Josh Smith? Will be interesting if Dwight does go with GSW, they took action, made things happen.

Brian K. Schmitz ‏@MagicInsider 34s

Also Magic fans: If GS offering Klay Thompson (half of Mark Jackson's dream backcourt), don't get too attached to Harkless, Harris, Oladipo

wtf?

Between GSW and Houston, Dwight is gonna end up on an awesome team.

I said WTF too, but it was in reaction to you actually following Schmitz.

Even without Klay or Barnes, Magic failed in getting multiple picks and an asset in Rush, for practically nothing.

The Magic might have had to take one less pick or so to beat out Utah's proposal, because of FO relationships and doing the Harrington for Biedrins swap (after a 17.8 TPE deal on Jefferson, Rush), when Utah probably did it all for less than the Magic's outgoing 3.55 mil cap hit to the Warriors. Magic could have even potentially TPE'ed Ezeli and/or Nedovic with an outgoing minor pick to lower the outgoing cap hit to an even lower 2.55-1.55 mil to the Warriors. The 17.8 mil TPE the Magic cleverly worked to acquire now expires in about 30 days.

Who cares I guess lol

We can still use our TPE to trade for Bogut and Thompson to give the Warriors room to sign D12 outright, right? I haven't checked the numbers.

It's extremely close. He may have to take a slight paycut

I didn't realize Jefferson and Biedrins were both going into the final years of their deals. Those are gonna make sweet expiring contracts in a few months ($11M and $9M respectively). And Warriors paid the Jazz to take them. Not too shabby at all.

I'm sure Henny is going through all the numbers & keeping his ear to everything going on.

If he sees a chance to improve our young core there is no doubt in my mind he will jump on it....if not, then it more than likely will be the right decision.

Slight paycut in the first year at least. If Iggy's contract starts out at $10M, then the Warriors would have about $18M to offer Dwight in the first year. Dwight could then opt out in three years and re-sign for max.
