Is there a draft pick that isnt a gamble? you never select someone for his current ability but for what you think he can become and with Vonleh you know he has the right attitude that will make him likely to realize his potential.

Besides, he is already a very good rebounder and has one of the highest floors in this draft imo, so if anything I think its a very safe pick.

The hell you don't...

It just blows my mind Neon. It really does. I just don't understand the mentality.

The Bosh-Vonleh comparison is really bad

Wait am I reading this right? Dipo's Junior year was his best year. By a lot. It's not even close. He only played 18mpg his freshman year. I don't get what you are saying.

What I meant is, Vonleh is way ahead of where Oladipo was in his freshman year and he seem to have a similar commitment to improve his game so while he doesnt look like BPA at #4 now, I think he has a good chance to become that or even better, and at the very least I think he can become a solid starter for a contender, which is more than I can say about anyone else in this draft not named Jabari Parker.

Ah, I see it now. Thanks for the clarification.

That's a poor argument. A large majority of NBA players had a better freshman year than Oladipo.

Chad Ford on the SVP Show says we'll draft Exum (as expected), but won't be shocked if we went with Smart. No mention of Noah Vonleh.

Noah reminds me of like... Brandon Bass for some reason. Without the sweet midrange.

lol chad ford comes out with so many versions of his mock draft that he doesn't even know who we're picking anymore. It's going to be Mock Draft 24.5 by the time the draft comes around.

Here is a video of full possessions of Vonleh playing defense. I'm posting it because I don't think people have actually seen him defensively (or offensively for that matter) and are just making assumptions on what they want him to be or what scouting reports say he might be able to be. I'm not going to say anything positive or negative and let people watch and evaluate for themselves.

let me say this

God please no...

His defense was pretty solid looking at the video

and for the pick and pops. He was daring them to shoot. Obviously, those guys aren't Kevin Love or LaMarcus Aldridge in terms of mid-range game. So there is no need to contest those shots.

horrible comparison: Oladipo was always the best athlete on the court in college and was dominant defensively and had several "wow" plays that suggested he could turn into a star.

Vonleh has none of those things.

pretty much this....I trust our FO with whichever player they choose.

Im not high on Vonleh but im not all gloom and doom "IT'LL SET THE FRANCHISE BACK 72 YEARS, THE... SKY IS FALLING." Hes a good player who I dont think should go 4th..but ill let our guys figure that out.

Honestly its all about potential when talking about Vonleh and some of the people whinning and crying about that are the same ones who want Exum, and for the exact same reasons. I find that hilarious.

I just want basketball to start.

He actually reminds me of Andrew Nicholsen in that respect... somewhat lost with his movements on that end.
less offense...much better rebounding....slightly better defensive version of AN.

Noah is like the human version of a sloth.
I like Randle and Gordon over him..
But I like Exum and Smart over Randle and Gordon.

Wait, if someone is already really good at 19 or 20 years old, that doesn't mean they won't get better. They just may be halfway there already on the way to stardom.

Anyone who states that Parker, Randle, Smart etc won't get any better because they are already NBA ready isn't being realistic. Many players can get much better even though they are already really good.
