Just wait until they cancel all schools until April and we've got a ton of kids with nobody to feed them or take care of them for 8 hours a day. At least the new COD came out the other day. Prepare the young ones to fight for rations in the coming apocalypse

Italy has 1/5 the population and they have over 15000 cases already. They shutdown everything but grocery stores and pharmacies.

By that model in less than two weeks we'll have over 70000 cases and losing 1000 people on some days.

They say if you have 2 cases of community spread in one state that means more than likely you have 1% of that population infected

Maybe the only good thing that will come out of this is for people to realize how bastardized our current healthcare system has become from corporate greed, and an on the take Senate. We might just get single payer pushed through as a result.

I sort of hope we get so angry over our government response, that we douche all current branches, add reasonable term limits to the Senate, and tie their healthcare to the Teachers of the district they represent.

Oh and make election day a National holiday

Pretty shocking that when looking at the front lines of this virus that the bottom line being discussed is financial viability and profitability for big pharma, per what Optimus shared. I'll have to read up on that more. But if trillions of dollars can be spent to bail out reckless decisions when it comes to financial mismanagement, but perhaps not for the sick who need a vaccine.

It will be interesting to see how this all unfolds. If large global stoppages become a thing and economies really suffer it's going to open up a chance for big changes. It's already making a case against globalisation and for more localised supply chains since when a global linchpin like China goes down like it has, it causes huge economic trouble for everyone. If more companies have to take extended breaks and staff aren't covered by sick leave and insurance then something like a UBI becomes a talking point again. And if a vaccine ends up priced out of the range of affordability for too many people then it's just going to really fire people up.

Silver linings for the sh**show the USA will be
because of the ineptitude and narcissism of 45.

He has gutted the CDC, FEMA, State Department and many of our governing medical agencies, never having replaced some in his entire 3 years!
When everything comes out he will have killed far more than 1 person on 5th Avenue...

I understand your concern, but if you want to comment on numbers and projections please provide links. You seem quite alarmed by everything so I can't help but read everything you say through a thick lens of scepticism, and I question where you're getting your information, and if it's inaccurate, then you could just be fanning the flames of alarmism with misinformation.

So here in Spain we're reading doctor reports that, if spread continues unchecked, within 3 weeks there could be 200,000 ICU beds required. Today, Spain has 3,800 ICU beds, most of which are needed for other serious illnesses.

Madrid's hospitals are already struggling under the pressure, with only about 1200 confirmed cases so far.

That's why halting the spread is so important.

Just listening to Ohio Governor Mike Dewine on the news and he said the public health officials in Ohio gave him the numbers. That two cases of community spread means that you probably have 1% of your population infected.

That's why he's pretty much closed everything. He just said that in the last 10 minutes, I'll look if it's on Twitter yet.

Ohio believes they already have 100,000 cases and expect it to double every 6 days.

Yeah the congressional doctor said, 70 to 150 million. Another doctor from Jon Hopkins says half the population.

The attending physician of the US Congress and Supreme Court, Dr. Brian Monahan, briefed Senate staff Tuesday in a closed-door meeting that he expects anywhere from 70M up to 150M people in the US to contract coronavirus, two sources tell @NBCNews. https://t.co/XKDnoCbbqZ

Unfortunately no one can get tested. If that's the case in 5 days after the incubation period, it'll be crazy.

I share that sadness. Usually we look to sports as an escape from the problems of the world. For that escape to be taken away makes it harder to just "shut off" all the noise. Just for everyone's own mental wellness, folks are going to have to unplug from the news to some extent. I'm planning to pick up a few books, maybe a new show or two, and catch up on some movies. But, I agree, losing this time of the sports season is a rough blow to all of us fans.
