This draft reminds me of the 2018 NBA draft, where Mr. Trade down made a lot of sense. At the time I was a huge fan of Orlando slotting don to the 9-12 range for one of: Mikal Bridges, Miles Bridges, or most ideal, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. That strategy is now proved that it would have been the correct move.

As to 2022 for example: Bennedict Mathurin could be the star of this draft. I would rather have him or Max Christie over Jaden Ivey or Jaden Hardy. Frankly none of the top-5 names on mocks excites me.

Or: just trade out of the draft. If the Knicks slide out of the play-ins, I could see the Knicks having an interest in a #6 pick (a likely range for Orlando). If the Magic could get a 2023 and 2024 FRP, this is a good move to allow Orlando's youth to grow-up and then have future rookies planned for the distant future.

..

Depending on what we got, a trade down to get Mathurin could be a slam dunk move. Agree with you that he's ahead of Ivey and Hardy as a prospect.

All the talk of trading for Brown from the Celtics. Mathurin is Brown reincarnated.

Mathurin has a 6'6" wingspan and Brown has a 7'

Two guys I've been very impressed with so far are Keegan Murray and Kendall Brown, especially Murray. They're both in the top 10 on Tankathon's mock.

I have been much more impressed with both of them than Jaden Hardy.

Yeah because this whole wingspan strategy has worked out so great for us right?

Having 7 or 8 players with under a 6'8" isn't working.

Guess we can only look at this season huh?
How did Wes iwundus 7'1 wingspan help him? Melvin Frazier's 7ft? Justin Jackson having an impact with his 7'3 wingspan? Is Okeke an all-nba player with his 7'1 wingspan? Bamba having the longest wingspan in draft history had really done wonders for his defense right (defense, not just shotblocking)?

It's still really early, but I'd probably have Jabari and Ivey slightly ahead of Banchero at this moment.

Read on Twitter

21 PTS, 5 REB, 4 AST, 2 STL, 7-13 FG, 3-6 3PT, 4-4 FT for Jabari Smith today.

He's now 21-47 (.447) from three and 33-39 (.846) from the line for the season.

Iwundu, Jackson, and Frazier were all second-round picks. If it was me I still would have started Frazier over Fournier.

I just think we need some length at the guard/small forward.

Btw I think Frazier will get minutes for OKC this year.

We gotta find a way not to play Fultz and potentially Isaac until the last weeks of the season to get this guy! :D

He is big, smooth and his shot looks good. I worry about his decision making and passing. We need bigger wings so he would be a clean fit here. Top 6-7 looking fine this year, not spectacular but good enough. I would love to have Holmgren next year. His attitude is something we miss sorely right now. We are lucky that Wagner shows more fire than previously anticipated.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

If we have the worst record, does that guarantee a Top 4 pick? or Top 3?

Jabari Smith and Mathurin so far look the most impressive potential pros. Holmgren is uber talented but that frame is soooooooooo narrow...
