I love that quote. Props to your grandpa. 8-)

Jabari was great the other night…

Other than playing the Spurs Jabari literally has one job and that's to shoot and that he did well. Paolo has far more responsibilities on this magic team. Paolo will need time.

Our roster also doesn’t make much sense in the modern NBA. I can absolutely see a scenario where Paolo is the better player but Jabari looks better around his roster. It’ll be fun to watch. I’m gutted that we can’t watch Chet this year.

Absolutely. No brainer if you ask me.

I still feel like Cole can be valuable off the bench, and if it wasn’t for injuries, we would have seen that the past two seasons.

The spacing is terrible and Memphis is swarming Paolo every time he touches the ball or tries to drive. If this is a sign of things to come, I really hope they dont run it back Suggs/Cole/Hampton/Ross.... Maybe go all in on Jordan Poole

It's literally preseason and this is when you want to find out things. Franz is obviously starting and getting rest tonight, Fultz is injured, Harris is injured (both who may have started, or at least I think Fultz replaces Cole or Suggs), Ross was terrible last year and RJ showed nothing during summer league but played well so far.

We went through an entire season of this, this isnt anything new. Having guards that can't shoot/create/over dribble and terrible spacing as result.

I don't have a crystal ball, but i'm pretty used to watching teams do this to us with these guys.

Agreed.

I am still super hyped on Paolo though. I think he will be our alpha long term and short term will turn it on in the second half.

It feels bad to say but while Paolo’s instincts are good ones, the instinctual part of Suggs’ game is what worries me most. He seem to be overthinking everything and it’s clouding his game flow. Those turnovers were prime examples.

That bamba Wendell pairing not really effective if bamba isn't hitting shots.... Because he's not running

Does League Pass pause for anyone else? Stream stalls like every 10 seconds.

Memphis was quite literally a top 3-4 team in the league last year and we're still very young, and missing two starters. I'd be surprised if we looked fluid on our first preseason game tbh.

Also we were one of the most injured teams in the league last year so while I don't disagree that our guard play was pretty atrocious, we can't just acquire all-star level guards easily. We have to see what we have in players. I just see people complaining about this lineup as if we aren't going to be starting Franz and like we don't have two guards who would be playing that are out right now. Of course it's going to look janky. Ideally we'd have a playmaker that can steady the ship like a Brogdon type but there's a reason why Boston prioritized him. Fultz is a steady hand but isn't a floor spacer.

You know what makes me sad? It’s the fact that if we actually wanted to win, Suggs shouldn’t be on the court. That hurts to type

I, in no way, have given up on him but he has such a long way just to get to ‘average’ that I’m not sure how he turns this around quickly. We have too many questions with this roster. Too many players that still need to prove they belong in rotations. I think that’s our biggest problem.

Interestingly, a team with poor shooting and guard play struggles, didn't see that coming....

Paolo need to learn to be selfish at times. That would have been a perfect dunk.

Not sure who the better option would be in that spot though. Harris is injured. Ross is a flake. Hampton?

I really don’t see why we can’t have Caleb and Devin out there. It can’t be worst then the Suggs and Fultz combo.

Suggs with twice as many turnovers as points? I mean WTF? I was definitely on the hype train when he “fell” to us, but wow did Toronto dodge a bullet and come out with a pure gem.

I know you all live to scream it's just pre season but if you can't see the dysfunctional play from this team on both sides of the ball primary from a team that all played together last year then man. They are just so bad on both sides of the ball. Nothing looks good...... but it's just pre season.

If Scottie Barnes had come to us, with more expectations, he likely wouldnt have turned out like he did. They gave him a small role with established players. we dont have that here

It just kills me that this team is jacking up shots not trying to play together.
