They’ve always liked our team and their writers are good. Worth a follow if you miss the old ESPN NBA analysis before the put the useful content behind a paywall.

Looks like those are weekly rankings (not for the season) but still nice to see us getting some flowers. If we keep this up for another month we're going to start hearing the media bolster Molsey for COTY, Suggs for DPOY, Cole for 6MOTY, and Paolo for an All NBA team

What a time

Whenever an NBA writer tells you that he’s doing weekly rankings, you have to take it with a grain of salt. There’s still some stickiness based on past record. If the Wizards win 4 in a row they’re not going #1. But good point, it helps explain why they’re a bit higher than other sites.

I hope not. Suggs DPOY votes or Paolo All NBA = Very expensive rookie extensions

As much as I would want Suggs to get some DPoY votes, I think people are too enamored with Gobert and bigs to actually give him votes.

Didn't Marcus Smart win not too long ago?

Unfortunately, it'll take ALOT to propel Suggs into any sort of DPoY discussion. Maybe if we were to make a real splash in the playoffs, but there's way too many casuals out there. Even on the GB here, a place where you'd think only diehards would come, there are posters who think he's our weakest link on defense. :nonono:

They really should consider dividing the award to front and back courts. The type of defense required for each can be so different, it really doesn't make sense to compare a big C to a small guard.

Yes. You have to be in the national spotlight, play a bunch of televised games, and in contender territory IMO to be recognized like Smart as a guard.

Yah, definitely a big man award. In most situations bigs have more impact on the score than guards, since their help defense impacts more than one opponent. Gobert is unique in that he also impacts players out on the perimeter.

TBH i havent watched any Timberwolves games this year, just trying to watch every Magic game I can, but i am having a hard time believing they are better defensively than the Magic. I havent seen a defensive team this good in a long time..but i might be a wee bit biased. If we do end up finishing as the best team defensively I would think some guys would get votes...who is the question, Suggs at the guard is the stand out to me...but man Bitadze has been good...and Isaac has been really good as a rim protector. Both those guys per 36 numbers are kind of outrageous.

Gonna be a tough decision to sit Goga when WCJ comes back...

Magic have climbed to 19th-ranked offense; were 26 or 27th before

The better Ingles shoots, I think we climb even higher. So there's still some upside

That will be so sad. I'll be at the game Wednesday, I'll not handle a loss well

The higher we are, the greater the fall.

Thing is... WIZ won their last game right? They mightbget scared their tank will be derailed so will purposely mail it against us. Then again, they might want morale boosters so who knows..

I like the idea of splitting a DPOY award btwn one for backcourt & one for frontcourt

It's just unfair to great guard defenders because big men will always have an outsized influence on defense that guards can rarely match

He's not 5'11 I would guess they are joking. In a game against D Rose last season, they hugged at the end and were the exact same height. He's at least 6'2 in shoes.

We really shouldnt think its a gimme win against the Wizards.

Regardless of the record of the Magic or Wizards, we've typically have had competitive games against each other.

In the 2008-2012 era when the Wizards were tanking and the Magic were contenders, they beat us a number of times and snapped multiple win streaks

From the 2014-2018 era when the Wizards were good and we were tanking, we beat them a number of times

I wish I could get into Coach Mosely's ear and share the narrative about this with him, we really cant take them lightly. I'm sure he knows whats up tho
