I dont see anything Anthony Black does that our guards already dont.

Bufkin is the guy I want us to land 100% at 11

A Hendricks/Bufkin draft would check a lot of boxes

Here’s the Black quote in question…

The Magic are indeed considering guards with size at No. 6. Arkansas playmaker Anthony Black had a strong visit with Orlando and believes he’s very much in play for the sixth selection.

Black’s camp initially showed resistance to working out for the Magic, sources said, because of Orlando’s perceived logjam in the backcourt with a trio of first-round guards in Markelle Fultz, Jalen Suggs and Cole Anthony. Anthony will become extension eligible this summer and is considered to have a great relationship with the Magic front office, but Orlando has left various personnel with the impression that drafting a guard like Ausar or Black would lead the Magic to exploring trade opportunities for one of Suggs or Anthony.

“They didn’t tell me that,” Black told Yahoo Sports, “but that’s what I figured they’d do if they picked me.”

He’s a 3-level scorer. His % at the rim was very good. He’s also the most two-way guard in the lotto. I like prospects that aren’t one dimensional in the lotto and have some kind of positional versatility.

That Black quote is low key wild. You don’t typically see rookies outright say they expect a young veteran player to be traded if they’re drafted whether it’s true or not.

It does seem at this point like the Magic are going to take Ausar or Black at 6.

I bet Weltman isn't happy about that quote

Scratch his name off the list. What a flat out idiot. Weltman harps over and over about "how a player would fit with the rest of the team and culture here". He said that's what he thinks about when he goes to sleep and wakes up.

Imagine Black being introduced to his new teammates after saying that. Get out foo!

The reporter shouldn't put him on the spot to answer that.

If that's based off something on the rumor mill then it carries zero weight. If that's your opinion, then I can respect your keen senses. :)

I wouldnt be surprised. Ausar seem to have the highest upside left by then. And weltman talked about drafting for upside.

I think people are digging for reasons not to pick certain players. That alone wouldn't determine whether we pick him or not.

That answer seems like the answer to a very leading question. Still seems silly to answer it.

At the same time, i can't disagree with the assumption. If the Magic draft a PG, something is going to have to happen. I mean are we completely writing off Suggs at lead guard, where he'd be most valuable with continued development

I dunno. The Magic do a pretty good job playing things close to the vest. We didn’t know we were getting Banchero until a couple of hours before the draft. I don’t think any of us saw the Wagner pick coming. The Okeke pick was completely out of left field (and still grates at me to this day).

I’m expecting a surprise at 6.

We're gonna draft Couliflourbaby to get Victor?

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

Man I thought about it, the trade that goes down tomorrow is probably gonna be Scoot for Zion.

Why do you think that? I could see it if we were still in a kicking-the-can-down-the-road stage, but FO/team seems lockstep in competing asap. Not in terms of like, Hennigan style trading young guys for vets compete, but having continuity in roles and higher expectations sort of competing, while integrating rook(s).

Cole is hands down the most under appreciated player on this team. He played really well in his role last season and people want to trade him for no damn reason.

Nobody wants to trade him for “no damn reason”…and you know that.

There are good reasons, based on respect for his growth. He’s too damn good to back up Fultz or get paid backup money. I’d rather start him than Fultz and see if he’s going to show he’s worthy of the job. He wasn’t ready last year, but he’s shown a lot of growth. Our present starter is limited, even if he’s better than Cole today.

People casually say “Cole has embraced his role”…that’s a crock of s**t. He knows he’s good and probably thinks he’s a future all-star. No way a guy with his background, at his age, is content to settle in a bench guy for a non-playoff team. Doesn’t make him selfish or a bad teammate either…he’s got the best personality on the team.

I’d rather trade him for something of value than lose him or pay him $18m/yr (which, in a vacuum, he will likely deserve)…just not here

Trades are asset management …not necessarily “giving up on a guy” or dumping him.

#backflip if this was our draft. And I would be risking injury. Lol

But..... If we got miller... I would also think of swinging for the fence on #11 (Bilal)... Or go for lively.... But bufkin.... Yeah .. I would be excited for him for sure too. Scrimmages will be lit by the end of the season. Lol
