All this SGA talk; just remember we almost drafted him.

Sigh.

Did you guys purposely MISREAD what i wrote? it said OUR pick AND the CHI pick AND one of colr or rj

Did you misread what MagicFan101 said?
Chi+rj, yes
That plus our own pick=nonstarter, sga not worth that

yup. i owned up to it. i posted that i was the onr who didnt read properly. lol

but yeah for context, the trade hinges on a top 4 pick so it means our pick

I love watching thunder games just for SGA and some of their young players, but no i wouldnt pass on Green\suggs+another top 10 pick plus 2nd year 1st round pick

#1 thats the type of trade you make when youre 1 piece away ala the lakers for AD, when youre a rebuilding team, you need another more than just one very good player
#2 thats the kinda trade you make for a superstar, not for a very good player. i mean not many trades get made player-for-top5 pick, so the only one i can think of lately was again lakers for AD, but that pick wasnt nearly as strong as this years #3 pick, in that draft the lakers pick was deandre hunter who might be a top 10 pick in this? but not top 3-4
This trade would break down very similarly
Ingram=Our #3 pick
#4 pick (hunter)= Bulls lotto pick
Ball=RJ\Cole
and so the difference would be Josh hart

So no, i wouldnt trade our 2 picks+cole\rj for sga

Not that it matters for the Magic necessarily given their cap sheet, but SGA is just one year away from a max contract, so they would not even be getting his cost controlled years either.

I'd rather just pick Cunningham, Suggs or Green.

I dunno... Im scratching my head but what do you think?

It is basically :

SGA for ORL 1st ( probably top 3) + CHI 1st (probably top 10) + either of Cole or RJ

Is SGA really that good? That trade offer is probably better than what Harden got.

That's an excellent question.

I would do Orl 1st, CHI 1st, && Cole for Shai, personally. Unless we had the first overall pick. SGA is only 22 and is what we hope and pray one of these young guards will develop into. I don't think people realize how good/impactful he actually is.

We could still move Ross, Let Porter walk, Ennis walk, and position ourselves for a top 5 pick next season. Then once resigning Shai we will still have some cap space to work with to field a more competitive roster in 2022/2023 with Shai/Isaac/Carter hitting their primes and the top 5 pick/RJ filling out the rotation. The Chicago pick also comes back that year which could easily fall in the top 7.

Making a move for Shai isn't a win-now one. It's a move for a young star still on a rookie contract.

Well interestingly enough. I think you are the only Magic fan who is all for the trade ( unlrss its #1?).

You do have a good reason though. I guess conoared to us where the potential of 2 young guys surpassing what SGA is brining is just too enticing to give up.

Shouldnt it be extension first? I dunno the FA signig details but I thought you can extend him cuz he is in a rookie contract.

Max means throwing 30-40/ year for him right?

I mean it's gonna be a max salary either way. It won't be as big as the max for 10+ year guy, but it will still be the max that a 6 year or less player can get.

Ah right. Thanks for clarifying that.

How are people comparing the top five most-likely in this draft, vs the top-five from previous years?
Stronger or Weaker

From memory, I thibk Oneal won player of the week his first rookie week.

and personally, i dont want Mobley. We need better wings.

Orlando needs an Ace-SG and a complimentary forward to Isaac; that isn't Okeke (yet), as I mean offense.

I do fear though that Orlando is developing two very good backup Cs. I guess the thought is that one of them should improve to marginal-starter.

I am not saying Mobley will be Davis, but that is the style of his game and his upside.

Mobley does have a high floor as well, as it is very hard to see him as being below average-starter.

I'm not sure about Davis...Maybe a Less shooting more rebounding version of Jaren Jackson Jr.

SGA for the Chicago pick + Cole?

Hmm, that’s a discussion we can have.

As soon as you talk about our own pick it’s a nonstarter. Absolutely not. SGA is nowhere near worth what Cade, Suggs or Green could be.

A discussion? Magic take that and run easily (Chicago pick + Cole).

I'd do that if our first pick is outside of the top 5, but if it's top 3 or something I'd roll with one of those guys you mentioned. SGA is already legit all-star level at 22.

I’m down with the idea of the trade if we fall outside the top 3. I’d package the Chi pick with any other players they want for SGA because I think he’s that much better than anything we presently have, other than a healthy Isaac.

Why would the Thunder want out from him anyway?

Its hypothetical but it can jumpstart their rebuild.

C - Brown
PF - top 3 Mobley
SF - poku / top 10 Moody etc
SG - Dort / top 10 Moody etc
PG - Cole

or something like that.

Mobley is my favorite big man prospect since Porzingis. He is squarely #4 on my board. I'd have no quarrels with the Magic selecting him.

I go back and forth on whether I take Green or Mobley at 3. I have a feeling one of the teams take Mobley in the top 2 tho.
