Omg why do we keep bringing up that stupid Harris trade, YOU GUYS HAVE BEAT IT TO DEATH ALREADY, LET IT GO!!!!!!!! It was done for cap space, Detroit made the playoffs, that pick wouldn't have netted anything substantial anyways, let's it go!

Will never let how bad that trade was go.

Number one let's stop pretending like it was a terrible trade, he was traded for expiring contracts so we could be players in free-agency, he's not doing sh*t in DET, they suck, they haven't improved at all from last year, maybe even regressed from last year

You can say well we suck too even with the capspace that was created, you'd be right, but that has nothing to do with the trade, pieces brought in didn't fit well, it was anot attempt at a home run that became an unsuccessful sacrifice fly, you've got to get up to the plate to hit a homerun, you can't hit it from the dugout

Again that trade wasn't nearly as bad as most of you are making it out to be, Harris is worthless, like melo, he's got Talent, not like melo, but where is his team? Barely making the playoffs? Shopping their star big man, shopping their pg who averaged 18ppg last year who's bound to get back to that level of play, yea DET definitely win that trade.......

For a fan base so critical of management you people sure do love to harp of "what could have been" with **** players.

Zach Lowe said in the last Lowe Post that the Magic never even listened to other offers for Tobias Harris; simply zeroed in on Detroit despite other teams having interest. The Magic never even returned other teams' calls.

Despite how you perceive Tobias Harris, **** player or not, other teams are getting more in return for players of similar, if not worse, caliber.

Other offers != Better offers.

The Magic would never have known considering they never picked up the phone. Instead they lost a rotation player for the opportunity to spend $15 million on Jeff Green.

He said the other GMs were baffled they never got their calls returned because they "had better offers" than the Detroit deal.

because no good player has ever been drafted not in the lottery? :noway:

cap space spent on Jeff Green for the same purpose?
Detroit wasn't in the lottery

Wait just a second right there! So you're telling me that rival GMs felt their offers were the bestest in the whole wide world? Well if that isn't the craziest thing I ever heard. I would expect businessmen to talk up how bad their product is...

Woj is the new Bucher. Shams is the new Woj. Espn is the new TMZ. The NBA is the new WWE.

Cap space?? You still believe that huh??
If the ultimate goal was capspace, then can you explain the Jeff Green signing to me??
We traded a 23 year old with potential so we could sign a 30+yo to the same amount almost right when FA started?.?

Great plan!

having space doesn't always equal being able to use it. and green is an expiring deal now. we aren't locked in long term

The Wizards really dropped the ball on not going after Lou williams. Id much rather had given up a first for a 20ppg bench scorer with another year on his contract than a Restricted free agent in Bojan if i was them.

Whether the move worked for Detroit or not is moot. Has nothing to do with the Magic. He's the same player he was in Orlando, which is a decent scorer.

The Magic should have known they weren't in a position to do anything significant with the cap space last off-season. It was poor judgment. Never had a shot a base hit, let alone home run.

Exactly! The act is creating cap space for the ability to do something with it. The cap didn't get used... so you hand the contract to a massive contract to a single player that can be possibly moved if the time came and the worst case scenario.... it expires and you regain some cap flexibility. Would someone prefer to have handed deng that contract and be tied in for 3 more years. I'm sure one wouldn't shoot yourself in the foot on purpose.... but it happens. lol

Plus they traded for Grant Hill while he was on crutches. Magic suck! This board is great

Jeff Green is walking cap space. His signing was the last piece. It's 100% irrelevant. It wasn't done at any other $15m player's expense.

Now playing him so much is an issue

the tobias trade was bad imo.

but there's sense and reason to it and saying "we just used cap on green lol" is silly because like we just said we still have the flexibility. sure we didn't get the ideal pay off from the deal (signing a big name) but the deal still had a reason
