I've actually expanded mine into a Top 6.

I've gotten to like Keon Johnson. He has flaws and there are obvious tiers within the Top 6, but I see a bigger fall off after that.

Kuminga is loaded with a rare combination of athleticism and size. Athletes come in all shapes and sizes, but a few of them have fine motor skills that show up in their form, coordination, body movement... where others don't. Take AG for example. AMAZING athlete, but he didn't posses the finer motor skills and that prevented him from being a fluid wing player. He was very blocky and robotic in nature. I've heard people compare Kuminga to AG, but I couldn't disagree more. Kuminga moves like a fluid wing player, his game is very smooth. He can drive and attack the basket in ways AG never could. He moves around like a big 2 guard. The way he moves actually reminds me a lot of a young under-developed T-Mac. People don't like to recall young McGrady because he was also only a slasher, dunker and defender. It took time for him to develop into a shooter.

..and the MAIN reason why Kuminga is not liked around here as much is because of his 3pt shooting percentage. He's NOT a good 3pt shooter out of the box. You need to have patience if you're going to believe in him. But you can't complain about the form. IMO, I think over time, his shot will become more consistent and VERY GOOD. He has the coordination to get there. It's not like Hezonja who was another great athlete that lacked fine motor skills. For all his ability to dunk, he just couldn't turn the corner because he was just a little too stiff.

I loved Anthony Edwards in last year's draft and he wasn't a great shooter either. The reason why is because of his true athleticism and fluidity. You watch him play and he's just a rare breed of player when it comes to his fluidity, athleticism and size. T-Wolves think his shooting will come around and I think Kuminga's will come around. Same could be said for Keon Johnson and why I like him. Kuminga is better than Keon though. Keon has a wild factor and sometimes disappears in games.

You take Mobley at 4 just because he's got such a high ceiling and we need talent. He also means we are terrible again next year because he won't be ready for 4 years, but could be a beast

Well first off...I don't even think Keon is in the top 10 right now. For his position (SG), Green ( obviously ) Moody and Bouknight are ahead of him in the fact that they have better attacking forms and 3pt shooting range. Athletically maybe only Green is better than him and he is just ahead of Bouknight by a little. ( just my opinion )

But to your main point, yeah I think its because Kuminga reminds us so much of AG and in the fact that he has a poor 3pt shooting range that makes us leery of him in the wings.

Im with this that we take Mobley at the 4 ( assuming Cade Suggs Green are gone ) because he is the BPA and you always take BPA over anything else. You only consider fit is if you THINK 2 players are BPA in the next spot.

Besides, our frontcourt is kinda fragile in terms of injury concerns no? We might be throwing Mobley to the fire sooner than we think.

Is that based on certain sites you're looking at? Because the ones I see he is firmly in the Top 10.

If it's your opinion, then ok... but Moody and Bouknight have shown equal inconsistency when it comes to 3 pt range. Moody was so bad in the tournament that teams are reconsidering his stock. Bouknight had a decent freshman season but this season was bad from 3. ... and neither have as much of an explosiveness that Keon has.

People need to get off their soapbox preaching that Kuminga and AG are the same type of player. To be fair, Cade Cunningham is a lot closer to AG in a lot of ways (outside of shooting).

Bouknight is definitely a tier lower than Johnson athletically. Johnson has been between 6-8 in the mocks I've looked at.

To answer both your questions, before the NCAA started, I think Keon was mocked at around the 6-10 range.. then when the NCAAT came nearer he was in the teens. Now that the tourney is over I dunno where he is at now.

basketballRob : yes Keon is more athletic than Bouknight. I said he is but only by a little. I think its because I saw Bouknight play before he got injured? Things like that tend to mess up your mind into high flying feats unless you are AI. So I know Bouknight has the ability to "corkscrew in the air getting his shot."

Skin : yeah in the NCAAT all 3 of them were inconsistent with their 3pt shots/accuracy. But as I saw in the regular season, I thinkMoody had the best?? ( not sure only eye test and when I saw them play ). As for attacking the rim Bouknight has both of them beat.

Anyway its more of my opinion and in context, of the 3 of them, its only Keon who has a *star* partner in their teams. Bouknight's team actually is detrimental to him because they have no shot outside and thus clogged up the lane for him. As for Moody, I think he is too "deferential" to his teammates.

I think that will happen only if we have no other choice.

The better debate right now.should be : Who do you pick? Kuminga ir Mobley?

He is for me.....shooting needs work......already has nba body....good athleticism.....good bbiq...great footwork in the post....potential 3-level scorer and shows potential on the defensive end just needs experience....really liked the film i've seen on him...Him being the youngest out the top 5 he has a great foundation to build off of

Cade

Suggs
Kuminga

If we can land Kuminga (if we have the 4th pick and the other 3 are gone), I'm good with it. Kuminga and Springer would be a very solid night IMO.

Cade or Green plus Barnes or sounds better though 8-)

That might have been true before all the trades but now that Vuc and AG are gone, if we are looking at a draft position where Cade, Suggs and Green are gone and Mobley is available I think many will be wise enough to accept him as the BPA for this new roster.

Mobley is a much better prospect than Mo but if we miss out on another Doncic (who just hit another buzzer beater 3 for the win 2 minutes ago) and draft another big that isn't much of a difference maker, most of the fanbase is going to disappear.

That said, drafting Mobley wouldn't be the end of the world. Especially if we can land a guard with the bulls pick.

Thoughts on Jared Butler for the Bulls Pick? Too high? With our pick it has to be BPA but i would love it if we addressed shooting with the bulls pick...we need someone with a legit strap.....above 40% from 3 on about 6 attempts?

I like Butler a lot, but I don’t think he’s worth a lotto pick. A first rounder for sure, but he’s probably more in the 15-25 range than the 7-12 range.

So unless the Bulls turn their season around and end up in the playoffs, I don’t really see Butler as a great fit for that pick.

I’d be more apt to do something like 34 + Ross to a contender for their pick in the 20-25 range to get Butler.

Shot out of a cannon to everyone...

Magic end up with the No. 6 selection - Cunningham, Suggs, Green, Mobley and Kuminga are off the board and they can’t trade up - who do you take at 6?

Doesn't matter because our outlook doesn't change unless we get super lucky with the crapshoot. I would be pissed AF at the FO.

At that point, you have to trade a collection of assets to get into the top 3 if possible.

I take Moody. Body of a SG/SF especially unsure of what happens to Bacon/Ennis and unknown if Chuma can be a fulltime SF.

He has 3pt range which is a must since our4 guards ( fultz cole rj mcw ) are more known to be slashers than 3pt threats.

Return to Orlando Magic
