Interesting PG progression.

Rookie year: 3.4 ppg
year-2: 8.1 ppg
year-3: 0 ppg ( out for season with torn ACL)
year-4: 10.9 ppg

Ask youself what you think comes next.

year-5: 15.7 ppg

And now?

year-6: 21.1 ppg
year-7: 20.5ppg

Now why is this news? The above player just signed a 120M, 4-year contract. That is, Dejounte Murray just earned 30M a year with those above stats. The Hawks has bought into actually being Portland 2.0.

A sad day to be an Atlanta fan. The Hawks is investing ~50% of its cap space over the next 4 years on two non-superstar guards. Sad.

And +1

I thought the exact same thing. It was an overpay but also a perceived market value.

And we have arguably two higher upside guys in Paulo / Franz + hopefully we can say Black someday.

Where is this money bin going to come from?

Let's overreact to Summer league :D Wemby looks like defensive guy only with no motor(taller Mo Bamba). Miller is a chucker, Scoot and Amen are both damaged goods.

Perfect time for our guy Black to step in and win ROY!!!! :D

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

I've mentioned this before but I see Dejounte Murray as a high upside scenario for Fultz. If Fultz starts taking more threes he could be a great value add.

Well: Fultz has better eFG% numbers now. It is Murray's rebounding and steals that sets him apart. His 20ppg is inflated by usage after all.
That will never be Fultz' role on a team with F-Wagner and Banchero.

I'm excited for this In-Season Tournament.

Someone please make a thread.

Orignally i was against Tournament but now i like it, it reminds me of Cup in soccer.

And it will probably be treated as such ( you know, only people who care about winning cup are ones in finals that year  )

It will be single-game- elimination right?

Now if only we can delite allstar weekend out of existence it would be great, name allstar and have them play televized dodgeball , paintball or whatever but not "basketball game" , that is everything but basketball game.

My idea for all-star game is if you can't force all-stars to play hard during it then at least make it different. These aren't all-star games but I think NBA can do a unique format for it - outdoors at really cool places, maybe with something specific on the line to make it more competitive.

Field of Dreams - MLB

Winter Classic - NHL (obviously just look at the first few secs LOL)

On my instagram 3 v 3 is breaking out, and yes, it's "different sport" BUT i LOVE 3 on 3 , so here's my allstar pitch. 18 players. Random selection. 6 teams of 3. Mini tournament.

Winner play against World Cup 3 on 3 champions.

Current allstar game is unwatchable to me, it's like uberathletic celebrity game

Congrats to Coach Malone who served on Stan Van Gundy's staff as lead assistant here in Orlando.

Nice, he was a good assistant.

I always remember this with him though (he told Isiah to take it out on him, and then gets choked lol)

Malone was a big man coach who Gortat bought a gold watch when he got his first contract. Gortat said he was like his dad.

Mike Malone was probably the perfect coach for Jokic because teaching big men runs in the family.

ANd-1

Both speak fondly that they reciprocally "made my career". And now they are both NBA champions and very rich.

Jokić in particular is now educating rookies on "put people you trust as your inner circle". That's great advise for us all.

There was a time when cup games in both football (soccer for US friends) and basketball were really important. OK, not as winning championship, but still had prestige value. For a true cup experience, we need G League teams included.
