This is why watching only tournament games is a bad idea when evaluating players

Oladipo is one of the best finishers in the NCAA (he converts in the high 60s at the rim) but you'd never know by watching this game

From watching him numerous times this year, a lot of that 60% is likely in transition not from halfcourt. He does seem to struggle finishing a lot more in the halfcourt. If he has a clear enough lane to dunk it seems fine, but he does seem to struggle in traffic, no stats, just using the eye test.
A smart coach once said, "Potential just means you're not good enough yet." Playing on potential is like living on air: It's essential, but if thats all you have, you're eventually going to starve.

Oladipo & Scott are both listed at 6-5 & both players height has been in question.

Both are their conferences defensive players of the year.

Scott may not be as tenacious on D but he certainly is not far behind. Scotts offense is much much better/smoother than Oladipos whereas Oladipo is a better rebounder & more explosive.

Draftexpress has Scott "listed" as a 6'3" 195 PG/SG (NBA projection). 6'3" looks accurate visually imo.

Thata why I said it's in question.

Every thing else has him listed at 6-5

Oladipo finished with 16pts/8reb and just 1TO on 7-12 shooting including a clutch three to ice the game.

Hmmm.

Oladipo is legit. Wouldn't take him top 3 right now but he's legit.

Durand Scotts 32 against State

He is a guy who beat out Lance Stephenson for NYC high school player of the year a few years back when lance was considered the next big thing.

Height will play a big mark with where he is drafted.

IMO, Dipo is a good role player for a good playoff or contending team, great luxury type player to have imo. Kinda like a stronger Avery Bradley/Courtney Lee type guy. By no means does he look like a cornerstone type guy.

my only response to this is: who looks like a cornerstone piece in this draft? Again, I wouldn't take Oladipo with a top 3 pick but your argument could be used against EVERY player in this draft (minus MAYBE Noel depending on his health). This draft sucks for lottery teams.

No, im saying i dont think he is even a starter on a good team. A good player to have, but i dont think he is even a starter on the NBA level.

OH: By "cornerstone" i am not meaning "a franchise guy" or even a multiple all star guy, i am meaning a guy that will be one of your best 3 guys that you are building around, longterm starter type guy.

Would be nice.

Really struggles finishing anything other than a 3 or dunk.

I know it's always changing but lets rank our top 5 as of today. I'll go first:

1. Noel
2. McCollum
3. Smart
4. McLemore
5. Burke

Vuc needs to go to the Withey school of defensive toughness.

It is just so tough putting together a top 5. Especially since I want us to trade our top pick.

Like seriously, I don't even have a legit #1.

What would we get back for the pick though? This draft is so weak that I don't think any teams are going to give up anything of significance for a top pick.

1. Noel
2. McCollum/Smart/Burke/McLemore

I havent come to a concrete decision on an order of my 2,3,4 and 5 prefered picks, but the way i ordered them is the way i lean, i guess you could say.

Guys like Bennett, Porter, Shabazz and Carter Williams come after that.

Late lotto to mid round steal type guy that will be surprise to be a productive starter if given the chance and minutes (think Vucevic, Tobias Harris, Harkless etc) is

C Jeff Withey, guy has insane career per36 block numbers and solid athleticism/strength.

14.6pts 9.8rpg 1.1apg 0.92stl 4.8bpg .723ft% and only 3.0 fouls per36 which means he can play his style for long minutes without big foul trouble.
