You guys obviously don't remember 29.3 ppg Gil, who, TS%-wise was every bit as efficient as Wade, LeBron, and Kobe.

All valid points, though I'm not sure a physical would completely ease my injury concerns, though that might just be my general distrust of doctors. Between SVG, Otis, Meer, and Dwight, I think there is enough leadership on this team to keep Arenas from being a huge headcase to the point where it seriously hurts the team.

Really, my hesitation is because this would pretty much be an all-in move at this point. As a player, I don't think he's more questionable than VC was when we got him, but at least we knew we could likely get rid of him soon if it didn't work out. If it doesn't work with Arenas, his contract will be even more impossible to move than Shard's is.

This is the only move we can make that has a chance to put us over the top. No chance we get CP3 now. We have some good pieces and it's all just trial and error now, seeing what players fit. I think Gil would be great with us if he returns to form.

Not to mention how terrible our backcourt defense would be.. how does Gilbert play off the ball.. we saw what happened with Vince having to play majority of his time off the ball.. he didnt do so hott..

If we do trade Vince, i want to see some defensive minded Sg come in.. not one that needs 20 something shots to get 20 points...please pass on this Otis..

Our backcourt wasn't good defensively last year either and we were still one of the better defensive teams in the league. Orlando plays good team defense and they have the eraser in the middle.

But why make a trade if it doesnt make you better than last season, it just makes no sense... i would think of this as a lateral move...gilbert, would be an upgrade offensively, but defense wins championships in this league.. and he doesnt bring a whole lot of that.

B/c the team is still good defensively regardless if you have VC or Gil in that spot it's a lateral move defensively but Orlando potentially gets the guy that can create for himself that everyone on the board covets. If it's an upgrade offensively then it is an improvement. The structure of the defense will always be team oriented, it has been since SVG has been here.

why do people say that Nelson shoots so much. He was the 3rd leading shooter on the team behind VC and Lewis, and on .7 ahead of Dwight. Compared to other PGs,

Deron Williams was 2nd on team and shot more than Nelson.
Rondo was tied for 3rd on his team and shot more than Nelson
Chauncey shot more than Nelson
Aaron Brooks,
Baron Davis
Brandon Jennings
Johnny Flynn
Devin Harris
Chris Paul
Russel Westbrook
Steve Nash
Andre Miller
Tony Parker
Shoot, Beno Udrih shot just as much as Nelson

Those are all PG's that shot more FG attempts than Nelson last year. So stop with saying that Nelson shoots so much.

all the posters who have been begging for a star this offseason, this is the only one available/attainable

lebron, gone
wade, gone
bosh gone
lee, gone,
amare, gone
boozer, gone
johnson, gone
gay, gone
jefferson, gone
paul, not happening this summer

gil was playing all star ball till he got suspended. i'd do it, especially if we get a pick. by the way, this is the only "rumored" deal i'd include vince in. gil > vince.
I live rent free in your head. You know who you are :D

Not changing this sig until Magic win a championship. Started 6/26/2015.

Gilbert is a flat out chucker.. pure definiton of a chucke, sure he can get hot, but how often does that happen.. we dont need a guy that is going to be that inefficient and take away shots from Dwight..

This trade just doesnt make us that much better.. imo..so why do it..??

Uhh, it's called facts, dude. Arenas had a great TS% because threes accounted for a huge portion of his scoring and he still managed to shoot them at a good percentage.

And i thought people wanted a pass first pg on this board.. you have gilbert, the "point guard" shooting 20 something shots a game.. thats just ridiculous..
yes i know Jameer is our pg, but im sure if it happened, Gilbert would be running the point at times during games..

??? lol He can score. That's what I was trying to get at. He's a better player than Carter and can potentially be a lot better than Carter -- especially in clutch situations. I remember how good Arenas was because he was one of my favorite players. That season he was as dangerous and as clutch as anyone. And that's why this trade makes more than enough sense. I don't think Arenas is going to bring anymore guns to the locker room, so this could be a steal.

Another thread on this. This crap couldn't go in any of the other Vince/Arenas threads ?
There should be a rule, you have to have at least 500 posts to create a thread.

Hey guys. I know its my 1st post but i just heard on 740am the game about the magic proposing a deal that would send carter to the wizards for gilbert arenas and a future 1st round pick. They said that earlier in the offseason it was wizards who 1st proposed to orlando but otis laughed at it. Well now otis has a change of heart according to them and is willing to do it. They said a 3rd team is interested in the trade that could send gortat also. This is paraphrasing what they said. "Word around magic front office is that otis has been approved on spending since they matched redicks offer from the bulls. That wasn't the case a couple days before the draft. The devos family was hesitant on spending and that is the reason on otis declining the original gilbert for vince trade because they didn't want the extra years and money added on to their payroll. The trade is being finalized and could be done by tomorrow but a 3rd team is interested that could move gortat and push the trade to be done by end of the week."

What are your thoughts guys. Is this good for orlando or bad. Who might be the 3rd team
