From Hoopsworld:
If Dwight Howard isn’t traded to the Nets by the end of the week, the Nets will move on to their contingency plans and seek alternative means of filling out their roster, a person who has been briefed on the team’s thinking said.

The person asked not to be identified because of the sensitive nature of the team’s negotiations.

“It won’t go past this week,” the person said, adding that while Howard is the No. 1 target, the Nets “have a Plan A, B, C and D.”

@Chris_Broussard Chris Broussard
There r only 4 teams Dwight Howard would sign longterm deal with - Orl, NJ, LAL, Dal - a source says.

At least we are being mentioned. It must kill CB to do that.

@stevekylerNBA Steve Kyler
RT @Dhraga: trade not involving d12 b4 the start of season <--- sorry mis-read the question... maybe, Magic are working on deals.

The Jackson signing probably ruined our chances at Monta...

Well, we can knock Dal off the list for now, they would be a summer destination for Dwight, they've got nothing to trade us. Lakers will have to offer at least Gasol/Bynum, Nets offer is terrible, and Orlando comes out on top.

Not if we can fix this team by the offseason

Well Ill take one more season with D12. It's a gamble but in a shortened lockout season anything could happen.

Yes, that's what I said. Maybe my Dallas comment was confusing. I mean, IF Dwight was to go to Dallas, it would happen as a free agent I think, there's no trade there unless they give us Dirk and that's not happening.

If we can just get that one all star type player we would be better than all those teams he wants to go to

I agree, we would be solid. Kobe only has a few years left in the tank so I think the lakers will not be as good in the future as it was in the past.

Meer/Dudu
J Rich/JJ/Wafer
S Jax/Hedo/Hughes
BBD/Ryno
Dwight/Orton

I think could compete. Now if we could upgrade backup point & center I'd be happy.

I am really looking forward to Nene landing on the Nets soon. That will be comforting.

RT @greggerkeel: does orl make any trade not involving d12 b4 the start of season --- Highly, highly unlikely.

Would you guys give up JJ and Ryan for SJax? Their salaries match up. I don't see any other viable trades for him with us, that's about the only thing we got to offer them.

Which FA('s) BIG's could you see here sign in terms that'd make the rotation? (MLE and below)

-- Kris Humphries
-- Earl Clark
-- Reggie Evans
-- Shawne Williams
-- Erick Dampier
-- Etan Thomas
-- Solomon Jones

For me personally i'd love to go after Humphries (full MLE) but NJ wouldn't prob let that happen so Plan B would be Etan or Damp. Btw, love Earl Clark's potential but we seem loaded with 3/4's.. Also, could see Otis going after Reggie too for rebound purposes.

He doesn't know. If they can get a decent trade, they'll do it.

I hope the Nets waste a lot of money on Nene and Kris
