It'd be nice if we could find an upgrade over Jameer, but the only 'realistic' target would be Ellis. And honestly, I doubt we have enough to offer GS unless they really want Redick or Hedo. And even then that will likely require us to part with Anderson and filler/picks.

As of right now, our best bet is to realize that Nelson is our best playmaker and continue to put the ball in his hands. Scary thought, but we're being handcuffed due to the personnel and makeup of this roster.

Larry Hughes starting would make Jameer a terrific sixth man. Unfortunately, given that Larry Hughes has never been a pure point guard, is way past his prime and coming off a whole year away from the game, that move would seriously downgrade our starting unit.

How did this over-the-hill SG turn into our answer at PG all of a sudden? What has he shown?

I have been very frustrated with Jameer over the years but there is no way I am going to make a snap decision and start Hughes over him if I were Stan.

I don't know but there was a 4 page thread about Hughes in the preseason.

Hello everyone....I've been a fan of this page for the last 8 or so years and just never actually been a member. then something kinda told me....why not join...seems like a fun time.

I honestly love Jameer Nelson....when he plays with confidence and takes the Captain position to heart. He plays pretty well....yes...even at his size. When he's aggressive the teams dramatically different. he played well last night when not including the 4 TO. But he had a +9 on court impact on the court in his 30 minutes of play. Duhon on the other hand had a -17 point impact in his 18 minutes of play. Once on the court, we lost the aggressive nature at the point guard position. Assuming that the play we saw from hughes was truly the type of impact he would have on the court...and can be consistently contributed....for sure i would put him in over duhon. His control of the game was admirable for someone that was on hiatus for that much time.

And to be honest with you....even from that small sample from the second half of that miami game, with such a shortened and densely packed schedule for this season, a "Mob Bench Squad" squad would be pretty good for us. We have a lot of talent on our team....obviously not allstar talent, but talent when properly put together can be more than effective. Having a team come off the bench that has a sense of cohesive and efficient play would definitely help our starters. a team of Hughes/Redick (Wafer)/Q(liggins or Harper)/Davis/Clark(Orton) can in my opinion play as a great unit if you have aggressive point guard playand leadership that hughes depicted in his minimal playing time...compared to duhons complacency.

ok....lemme stop rambling....lol...."first post....first post.."....can't overstep my boundaries on the first try. Well....hope for a great season and our ability to pull things together. Happy Holidays to all.

Hughes and wafer need to essentially take the pg minutes...

a second unit of hughes, jj/jrich (depending on how stan rotates in), wafer, BBD, ryno will torch most other second units.

Hughes can play 3 positions... gives us honest defensive effort
jj is very smart and jrich can play 2 positions,
BBD can play 2 positions and ryan is offensively dominant against 2nd unit 4s.
wafer has the offense.

thats a very balanced unit and is a match-up nightmare for the opponent.

Don't forget the rookies. they looked eager and willing to play. liggins was aggressive on both the offensive and defensive end.....and i liked what harper showed with his offense. he's got a very good stroke and tons of confidence to use it!

It is an outrage that he isn't playing ahead of Duhon.

Yeppers.

Would much rather Huhges play and Duhon be sent away...anywhere. Duhon is a great backup if your PG is John Stockton or Magic Johnson.

Anyway I thought Jameer played well last nite.

Only 6 shots and omg I can't believe the pass he gave JJ on that backdoor cut, it was actually the type of pass dare I say a PG would make.

More of that and less shooting would be great if he's gonna start.

There's really no reason why Duhon is in the rotation. He needs to create more for others and look for his more often.

Can you explain how this statement makes any kind of logical sense?

So if Jameer shoots less, who would you rather take more shots?

Ryno? JRich? D12? Hedo?
