Both these trades put us in mediocrity. 1st option: Lopez is soft, and now he is injury prone. Brooks is ehhh ok but thats it. Okur is gone along with Humprhies next year anyways. NJ's draft picks suck if Dwight goes to that team. They are only 4 games or so out of the playoffs. You dont think Dwight will get them there?? i do. so scratch that. Option two: Bynum is a HUGE risk that is not worth taking. so you want him to have more touches and work harder on his already bum knees where he isnt the focal point on the offense and where Pau can help on rebounds??? Ok maybe Ryan can help out on rebounding, but Bynum as our workhorse is SUICIDE!!! he will break down by game 30. so scratch that.
The only option is to keep Dwight at hopes at a title this year. Suck next year and get a solid draft pick, trade Turk whose contract is more tradeable then, trade J rich now to Minny for cap relief, and try to sign a marquee FA in the offseason in 2013. THIS IS THE ONLY OPTION.

Thank you. Would not say it much different myself, except when it comes to Bynum. If the trade is there, I'd take it. Especially if they took Turk and Duhon. Why? Bynum has proven to be a great talent when healthy, and he's been healthy this year. There are definitely concerns. When I was watching the Laker game last night, there was a foul called when Bynum came down on a rebound and he wasn't touched hardly, and he planted awkwardly and his knee buckled n he just lumbered over. He didn't grab his knee or anything, but I thought he hurt something when he was on the ground for a noticeable period.

I'd take the risk. I think Dwight leaving is a little more likely to happen than Bynum suffering a injury riddled career from here on out. And say Bynum does sustain a serious injury, his contract doesn't go for much longer, if something horrible happens then we're in the same boat as we would if we lose Dwight outright. I wouldn't do the Nets trade. The Lakers I'd have to consider heavily.

Interesting:
After the game, before Dwight went to talk to the media, he went out of his way to chase down Jameer before he boarded the plane. The two had a fifteen minute conversation one on one, then Dwight went and spoke to the media.

Aren't they the f'n truth. But all we hear is about Stan being too negative.

Agree 100%.

Could it be that Jameer might talk some sense into Howard?

We can pile up on young talent and have a couple 1st round picks to look forward to this summer. clear out as much cap as possible and tank for a top 5 pick in the 13 draft. by then we will have a young core of players and room for free agents. Keep SVG he has made me a believer this season.

ROLL THE DICE DWIGHT U SERIOUS!?

This is the best team we have right here for years to come over any team post a hypothetical trades people have posted here.

You say trade dwight and be a 30-40 win average team or keep Dwight fight for the title and a chance to keep him. If he does walk after all, this is 20 win team with a good lottery pick in 2013.

This is our last chance to contend for a title for years. In one more year in 2013, this team will be without Meer & Hedo with tons of cap space. Take that shot for a title while we still can.

@Kman - What do you mean franchise around Stan? He is a solid coach and has always done well getting the most out of a roster. He might even turn into a good players development coach. We are going to have to wait and see.

well this was always going to be a tough decision for management to make based on their observations of dwight. there was no way dwight was going to commit one way or another based on monta ellis.

i would also add that expecting dwight to give up his UFA status at this point is unrealistic. it doesn't matter if you think dwight wants to go or stay. it's just unrealistic unless we were to trade for a true star.

So it's obvious we all need a little humor in our lives today.. here is a post from a girl I'm friends with on FB:

Dwight Howard has decided to stay with Orlando for the remainder of the season... Now it's up to the coaches... KEEP DWIGHT & GET BETTER PLAYERS

This is true. To me minus an Andrew Bynum team this is the closest were gonna get regardless.

Subtracting a Bynum trade still makes this possible. Plus Bynum could still develop into something good at 23.

Regardless of how you feel Jameer and Hedo still come off the books in 2013. Heck I think Bynum does to. The only exception is that right now we just do not know.

Again, unless we are trading for Bynum and largely keeping our team intact I go your route. We can still tank and have Bynum in my opinion.

Alex Kennedy: Dwight Howard said the Magic have an opportunity to contend this year and he has made it clear that he wants finish the season in Orlando. Twitter

DWIGHT HOWARD SAID "the Magic have an opportunity to contend this year". Really? I thought you "just wanted to win" Dwight? If he thinks that THIS team can contend for a title (and our team could possibly be upgraded next year), then why not opt-in? At least that gives the organization a little more realistic time to bring in another star if that's what you want. In the meantime it would be the same team, which you yourself just said had "an opportunity to contend"...

It's because you would rather be in Brooklyn next year, you would rather be playing next to Deron, you would rather be making more endorsement $$$. And this is exactly why we think you are going to bolt in the summer. Because you yourself said this team is good enough to contend, and yet you aren't willing to opt-in for even one more year with it. That says something.

What does it say? That each situation has it's perks? That Dwight wants to have his cake and eat it too? ::GASP:: We all want to think we'd be better when put in his position, and a lot of us would be wrong. I really admire how Dwight has handled this season. The trade demand was supposed to be between him and Otis. Otis leaked it, and harped on it. Not saying that it was bad for Otis to do so. But we're being overly critical of Dwight. All season long he's focused on playing hard for the Magic, and he has. All season long he's had to deal with questions about his situation and pretty much every time I have seen it he says he wants to focus on playing.

Dwight has made many mistakes, for sure. But we're being way too critical of the guy. Taking every mistake and blowing it up into a defining characteristic. It's sad, and in my opinion, very flaky on some fans' parts.

Maybe Tim Duncan can teach him a little bit about what it means to stay and win with the team and city that supported you from day one.
