This is mind blowing. We have the most incompetent GM in the league.

They were saying how this goes the same in FA where the FO often doesn't pursue, or even show knowledge of trade scenarios with the rest of the league.

I'm not sure if Otis even knows Turiaf is a FA. I don't understand why Otis wouldn't sign Orton to a cheap deal and now is hanging onto him like he's his pet project. It's not like Ryan, where letting him test the market might help value him, Orton can't really get cheaper.

I think at this point, Stan is telling Otis not to do anything because he doesn't think there is enough time to bring someone into the system. Not seeing us make a move, but if we do, Turiaf is the guy, cut Orton.

most of that is true, we have one of the fewest scouts in the league and we often don't even interview people in the draft, this report was already reported and confirmed by otis

This is why we draft poorly unless it's the number one pick.

How is this possible?

unless the team makes the finals this should be otis's last rodeo. martins needs to bring in his own GM next season and start a plan for 2013. We need people in the front office. otis has been awful yet dwight opting in might of saved him from being the next isiah.

He needs to be gone even if we turn out to be the champs.

Wow.... Otis doesn't do his homework??? he's lucky we even have as many wins as we do....... because he probably would've been fired awhile ago....

It has already been reported that Otis did not even interview Orton before the draft and he just went ahead and spent our 1st anyway, it was widely reported that Orton had been having knee issues since early in his highschool career.

If he is somehow here next year we need to get together as fans and have a billboard erected downtown of our desire to have him fired.

LOL. Its fine if at this point he doesn't want to sign anyone but if I were him I would think it was about time to retire the "I like this team" quote.

We are very close to the tax threshold, so I'm sure the calculus weighs the added cost of exceeding the tax cap with the potential impact of adding the player. While Turiaf is an upgrade, he won't be taking all of Baby's minutes and it will take time for him to get comfortable. We only have 20 games left for him to make an impact, and I'm thinking that at this point it will be less than 1/6 a win. How much is that worth?

(Personally I think we should sign him, just trying to understand why we wouldn't make what appears to be a no brainer)

Redick? Nelson(by defined trade)?, Harper?, Lee? - Varejão was a Magic draft pick. Augustine was a value pick at his slot. Pachulia was another Magic draft pick.

GM Smith is not horrible; he is not great; he is average.

Orton was a huge gamble. But at the draft slot, gambles are not bad selections.

Who did we trade to get Nelson on draft day?

Jameer was drafted when Otis was a co-GM with weisbrod, Redick was a product of his own hard work not so much otis, Harper was a 2nd who has yet to play more than 30min worth on the whole season, lee was good Ill give you that.
