I have absolutely no idea what Foyle's credentials as a GM are, but if management wanted him in place I'd give him the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

We really need to get someone from Houston, Daryl Morey knows how to build a squad.

Otis, Weis, Gabe

these are some of the others that management have wanted in place. Weis, the team culture/axe man, Gabe, the book cook, and now Otis, the golden state re-hash. all these guys have had ties to Orlando management and have been promoted through the ranks within the team. whilst they have all done some MAJOR good (Gabe clearing space for, and signing, Tmac and Hill and almost Duncan/ Weis drafting Dwight/ Otis putting together a squad to make the finals), they've all had major weaknesses, lack of foresight and an inability to put talent around the pieces we already have.

next in line is Foyle? you're right, he gets the benefit of the doubt, but he also follows a line of predecessors who have all made major blunders, so if he does indeed end up as GM, i can't say i'll be full of hope.

also, i remember Foyle being brought up once as a guy on the team who encouraged Dwight to be more of a leader in the locker room. (i believe it was in his final year here, and when the team had hit the skids). given that we already know Dwight isn't a natural leader, i think Foyle could just play into Otis' hands of "lets force Dwight to be a leader, rather than going to get another legit option that could be that guy". i see Foyle being a pro Otis guy, and nothing more than an Otis henchman, given their strong relationship.

Adonal has no experience at all running a team. We dont need to take a chance on someone new, we need a legit GM that is a good planner and smooth talker. Of course Adonal is super intelligent. Who knows maybe he somehow turns into a Theo Epstein. I dont think we are in the position to gamble though.

Why is nobody really talking much about Walsh? He has already been given permission to talk to other teams, and he wants to GM again. We would have to be a top candidate I would think.

experienced GMs only please. Foyle may turn out to be fantastic one day, but we are in a terrible spot right now. let's let foyle run through the ranks first instead of throwing him from a community ambassador to a General Manager.

Id be really happy for Foyle but id be really dissapointed. First hes had some of the worst(Or the best if you spin it the right way) in being otis' understudy and secondly I really want someone who is from the spurs line of front office people. they are the epitomy of top notch small market front offices and very good at what they do

As much as I dislike Thomas, I disagree with this logic. We really don't know how these guys think. Thomas made a lot of mistakes. That can't be argued. However, it doesn't mean that we know what his thought process was/is.

Same thing with Foyle. We only know of him as a player. We don't know what his thought process is when it comes to management.

IF we do Board Awards this off-season, I'm voting you for best screen name.

Why thank you. The way this season has gone, that may be the one of the only positive things I take away from it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this ownership is way too "loyal" if you will. They are too "old-school". Bring in somebody savvy, somebody with a PROVEN basketball FO record....not a former Jacksonville University grad with a mediocre NBA career....

Who are you talking about? I'm sure Adonal went to Colgate....pretty damn good college

Otis Smith. And I mean....Colgate? I've heard Adonal is relatively intelligent but let's not go hyping Colgate up that much. It's a decent college.

LOL, where'd you go? NESCAC schools are a tier below Ivy League for sure, but pretty much unrivaled beyond that for small private schools.

I got accepted to Colgate but wasn't about to go that far in debt for undergrad. Rollins showed me the money and let me stick around here for a while.

As far as Adonal. Nice guy. But no. Not again. He's perfect for player development crap. Not the front office role of drafting and acquiring players... Depending on how this summer works out, it could work out to be pretty difficult to stay with the franchise. I'll most likely living in Charlotte after my masters. They're about one big gaffe away from me giving up.

Ivy League - PENN. Not trying to compare schools....I'm just saying I wouldn't hire a guy to lead a 9-figure sports franchise through arguably its most tumultuous, uncertain time in its history, simply because of the fact he went to Colgate and seems like a fairly intelligent guy. That's all.

High FO position doesn't necessarily mean GM. But if they're "grooming" him then I assume he's learning the ropes as we speak, so he wouldn't come in with out any experience. I'll reserve judgement.

Lolol, yeh but WHO is "grooming" him? BVW just got fired, Otis doesn't even have GM power it seems (and everyone here certainly doesn't want him to be learning GM duties from Otis)...and Alex Martins has never been a GM. Not saying that Adonal would be the new GM, could be some other FO position (although what would it be you think?)....but I think that would be a stupid move if that's what they're "grooming" him for.

Perhaps, but I don't know his other qualifications. Perhaps he's got a great basketball mind and the Magic know something we don't. Part of me wants someone with experience, but the thing I may like is that Foyle is in the organization and knows the ins and outs of this team and knows the weaknesses and strengths of the team. I'm not ready to call it a stupid move just yet. But nor am I ready to support it. I just wouldn't rule it out.

Foyle could be up for something like VP of operations. This is the business/financial side of management.

I wouldn't.

The Magic have already proven that their choices of GM's without experience has been an overall fail.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability
