Let's calm down guys.
I am not sure about Nicholson but it will all be determined based on how well he does on the court.
Rob Hennigan deserves a chance.

Re: Breaking: Magic Select Andrew Nicholson with 19th Pick
I'm sorry, but this was a bad pick with Sullinger still on the board. So far Hennigan looks like the rookie he is. Why in god's name did we need another PF anyways? Teague or Sullinger would have been the smarter picks. Sullinger actually has the girth to play Center. And now he's a freakin Celtic.... awesome.

As weak as we are at the wing and PG, why, WHY, did we draft another power forward? Why?

FROM NBADRAFT.NET:
Andrew Nicholson Moving Up
Andrew Nicholson is a hot name right now as teams in the late lottery are considering him and there's an excellent chance that he will land somewhere in the teens on draft night. There are a number of teams attempting to move up for him, and it's unlikely that he would fall past Orlando at 19 or Denver at 20. We hear OKC is one team that could be looking to add a mid-first rounder to grab him, with Eric Maynor as possible trade bait.

We need some youth and athleticism on the perimeter but we take another three point shooting PF.

He's a good player, but we have so many 4's on this team.

Rob Hennigan deserves a chance.
I doubt he sees the court with BBD, Harper, and possibly Ryan still at the four.

Re: Breaking: Magic Select Andrew Nicholson with 19th Pick
Well my take is were obviously letting Anderson walk. Clark's opting out and probably will sign elsewhere and Big Baby while showing he can be a starter at times, has question marks. Also Harper sucks. This doesn't mean were making a trade by any means. It means Hennigan wasn't sold on our 4 spot pretty much. But honestly that was our strongest position besides center. I guess Nicholson was the best available according to Hennigan..

Now we can keep one who will be on rookie contract and move the others...

Also draft express hilariously has this guys "best case scenario" as Ryan Anderson. Really hope they're wrong about that

As if we needed anymore stretch 4's, we draft a Canadian one.

NBA Draft - Predicting Sleepers: http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-trian ... g-sleepers
Andrew Nicholson
Strength: Post Offense
Andrew Nicholson proved to be one of the better college post players at St. Bonaventure last season because he knows how to use his size. He posted a PPP of 0.990, placing him among the top 19 percent of all college players, while shooting 57.4 percent. When watching Nicholson work down low, you rarely see his shot blocked or even bothered.

Taking advantage of his long arms, Nicholson's pet move on the block is a jump-hook going toward the middle, which he can make with either hand. He also has good range around the basket. Even if he gets pushed out far from the basket, he can turn to hit a jump shot.
Weakness: Post Defense
On the defensive end, Nicholson plays like a skinny and long player. He bites on too many pump fakes and struggles keeping his hands straight up when contesting shots. He allows 40.7 percent shooting and a PPP of 0.770, placing him in the 56th percentile in terms of post defense. He commits fouls 10.1 percent of the time when he gets posted up.

Nicholson allows his man get into his body way too easily, which negates his athletic skill. It's harder to contest shots with your hands up when a guy is jumping right into your chest. He needs to do a better job of pushing guys away from the basket. If he can do those things, his foul rate will go down and he will be more effective on the defensive end.
Player Comparison: Smaller Al Jefferson
Al Jefferson is one of the last true post guys, using fantastic footwork and his length to get off clean looks. Andrew Nicholson can play that same role.

Re: Breaking: Magic Select Andrew Nicholson with 19th Pick
He is the most complete post player I've ever seen. I can't really find a model for this guy.
He's got to be stronger though. But I like this pick.

Re: Breaking: Magic Select Andrew Nicholson with 19th Pick
Guys,
I am very iffy on this pick but in the end, it's all going to be about how Nicholson does on the court.
This would not have been my pick though.
Nothing we can do now but complain. Even though I'm against the pick, I'm giving Rob Hennigan a chance.

Re: Breaking: Magic Select Andrew Nicholson with 19th Pick
After letting the dust settle... Nicholson is actually a great fit. He's got no terrible weaknesses and all the right character to fulfill his potential.
